"Official" Yamaha RX-A1000/RX-A2000/RX-A3000 thread - Page 163

Well after looking for almost a year for an upgrade for a Denon AVR 987, I finally ordered the Yamaha RX-A 1000 from Amazon tonight for $646 + free shipping. I have a Yamaha RX-V661 in our playroom and it has been great from day 1 with no problems. I think from top to bottom all the way around Yamaha makes the most reliable receivers with Denon coming in 2nd. I have Infinity Primus 7.1 speakers with a Klipsch SUB 12. I am really looking forward to the A1000. Can somone suggest a wirless connection for my ethernet connection on the A1000? I would like something I could hook the receiver up along with a Bluray player to get BD live. That would kill two birds with one stone. Any suggestions?

Thanks...

The wireless solution that I use is the ASUS WL-330gE
Newegg has them for a very reasonable price with the current mail in rebate.
These are 802.11g but I have had no problem streaming audio and the video that I use is downloaded and then played so that is no problem either. If you are going to stream video this may not be a good choice.

If you want one device for both the AVR and the Bluray then maybe you should look at a Powerline solution. I have seen many of these that allow you to hook up 4 ethernet devices.

I am not that knowledgeable about networking but I believe that an Ethernet switch will allow you to expand one of the Ethernet ports on the ZoomADSL router into additional ports. This is not a wireless solution which is what I thought you were looking for as you would have to run cables from your AVR and Bluray player to the Ethernet switch and another cable from the switch to the router.

I used this Netgear product on my new RX-A1000 with excellent results - not wireless but using your home's power line is simple and effective. Plus it provides you with four ethernet connections for other devices in your home theatre. Note: It took several days for the Yamaha to recognize the connection.

That should work fine. Maybe even a bit of overkill since the receiver only has a 10/100 port.

okay, not sure what is causing this, so looking for advice. Got a new A2000 a fe weeks ago and it has been great. I have a mac mini hooked up to it and it's been fine, but recently (and only on this input) i'm getting some stripes on the lower half of the screen flicker every few minutes. It's a super quick flash. Now, this hasn't been happening, but now shows up every time I'm using the mini after about 10-15 minutes. Thought my mini was just having issues, so hooked up my brand new MacBook Air to the front HDMI port using a different HDMI cable - same thing!? Again, other sources are just fine (ps3, xbox, apple tv) so I know it's not the receiver > TV connection. Just seems to be apple computers? Both are running lion, anybody else seeing anything like this? I swear it was working just fine with lion for awhile, and has only recently showed up.

Thanks!

Hello

For some reasons I have 2 viewing areas: one for the plasma (orange sofa) and one for the projector (green sofa). The speakers are placed to be listened from the 1st configuration (Plasma) and when I watch the projector this setup is not the ideal one of course

I would like to switch the speakers when I am sitting on the green sofa watching the projector, without moving them physically:

- "R" acting as "L"
- "SR" acting as "R"
- "L" as "SL"
- "SL" as "SR"

For "C" I would have to move it as I do not see any other solution...

is this possible with the Yamaha RX-V2067?

Cheers

1) No it's no possible without physically swapping wires.
2) Get yourself a retracting screen for the PJ, and mount the plasma behind it.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I can not project on the side of the plasma.

Um, well the idea was to move the plasma.

Can AVS forum add a thumbs down/thumbs up to a reply? Maybe the top 10% will move at a section at the start of the thread. Just a suggestion.

OK I see. Nevertheless I can not move the speakers. I desist, I realize this is not possible. Thanks

I was looking for wireless...thanks...would this work? I would prefer two inputs though...

I am kicking myself for ordering my RX-A1000 too early. I paid $675 after tax from Newegg because Amazon wouldn't price match.

And today Amazon is $645.

Hello new here..
Just thought I would join the Yamaha Aventage Owners Forum..

I just bought the 2000
PSB Image T6's
PSB C5 Center
NO Surrounds at the moment..coming soon
will be
PSB S5 Dipoles

My first thought of the 2000 is the remote is a little confusing on the setup and learning codes..
My Panasonic BDP-100 is not even in the code book for some reason..
I really like the sound I get from the PSB's though very neutral and Yamaha says the EQ settings should be on Flat when using metallic tweeters..

Is anyone using similar equipment-Speakers?

Yes this would work, however you do realize that this only allows you to connect one device at a time.
This solution is only slightly different from the ASUS solution that I had suggested in that it is 802.11n whereas the ASUS is 802.11g. If you are going to stream video like Netflix then the 802.11n would be a better choice.

I know it is more expensive, but I would not overlook the Netgear Powerline solution that someone suggested in response to your original post. The performance you get from these is dependent on the wiring in your home, but it can be better than wireless and it would give you 4 ports.

You want to remap your speakers 90 degrees? No problem. The ADA TEQ implementation of Trinnov Optimizer can do that. And it is only $12,000.

Hello all. I just got my new Yamaha RX-A2000 from J&R.com yesterday. I hooked it up to my speakers and audio/video signal sources and everything seem to be going OK. I was in the process of getting to know this new receiver and learn all of it's intricacies and features. I did my homework before selecting this receiver and I believe that it is the one that I wanted. I've owned yamaha before and never had a problem with previous products of theirs that I've owned. This morning after turning on the receiver, it told me that there was a firmware update available so after reading the PDF owner's manual on how to do a firmware update via the network I proceeded to do that. In the my room that I have the yamaha in was well as all my other audio/video gear I have an small refrigerator and air conditioner. When the compressor in the refrigerator automatically turns on there is a momentary sag in power in the circuit in my room and it produces an audible sound from the inside the reciever and it seemed to cause the receiver to momentarily loose power for a half second. I'm not sure whether or not this happened during the firmware upgrade but after the upgrade was completed and the receiver told me that it had completed successfully, it told me to turn the receiver off and I did but when I tried to power on the receiver, it would not turn on. After reading the manual troubleshooting steps to see if there was anything that I could do to fix the problem I tried power cycling the receiver by disconnecting the power cord for about 30 seconds, this seem the work in getting the receiver to power back up however I could not get any audio or video output from the HDMI output that was connected to my display. I looked at every troubleshooting procedure in the manual but I could not find anything that would solve this problem. I then called Yamaha's tech support to see if they had any answers but I could not get a hold of them by telephone because the voice mail said that they were in a meeting. so I had no recourse but to take it to the nearest yamaha factory authorized service center for repair. I thought of just sending back to J&R but this unit was a open box item that I got from them with a discount. I paid about $919.00 total for it with free shipping and it was in pretty good shape when I got it, looking brand new and it has a full factory warranty. Well, after getting it to the shop, the technician I talked to about this problem said that it was a pretty common problem related to contemporary receiver's. He said that apparently the receiver's processor had locked up due to power sags presumably caused by the refrigerator compressor clicking on during the receiver's operation. I've never had this kind of problem before with a receiver. My old Pioneer VSX-1015TX-K never "Locked Up" when the refrigerator compressor click on or the air conditioner was turned on, I would usually hear a sharp click inside the receiver, but it would never just stop working although I beginning to understand now that the clicking sound coming from the inside the receiver might have been a sign of stress due to power sags . I'm putting this out there to find out if anybody else has had this problem with their yamaha receiver and what they did about it. After doing some research, it looks like I'm going to have buy a A/V Power conditioner with a voltage regulator. I'm looking at the APC H16BLK http://www.apc.com/products/apcav/pr...ase_sku=H15BLK and the Panamax M5400-PM http://www.panamax.com/Products/A-V-...s/M5400-PM.php. Please let me know if you have had this problem? what you did about it? ? And how to prevent this from occurring again in the future. And please let me know on what you think of the two A/V Power conditioners that I've selected. What you think of them? Is there any thing better out there that I don't know about. The APC H16BCK has some very good reviews and goes for about $225.00 on amazon. The Panamax M5400-PM looks to be more "high end" and goes for about $435.00 on sale. Of course I want the best product but of course I want to save some money if possible. I don't see anything wrong with the APC H15BLK so why shouldn't I save $200 and get it or is the Panamax M5400-PM worth $200 more and why? Let me know what you think. Your prompt replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Perhaps they will...though I didn't use the word "top" in what I said
I just said 10% period...
There is a lot of "material" to sift through with the other 90%

Case in point

As I recall there have been several references about the lack of difference, if any, between the RXV-2067,A2000 and A3000...even citing that they have the service manuals in hand
But not the actual receivers.....
Ok?

Interestingly enough ...Home Theater magazine...in the Sept 2011 issue..that I just received...stated other "facts" about differences in the Adventage line

Airman, I have the H15blk and don't have a single bad thing to say about it. It does what it's supposed to do and does it well. It's a beast of a unit though and weighs a lot.

Even though I have a dedicated power line for my HT, I still am happy i bought the APC. I get some power fluctuations that seem to be based on how hot it is outside. It can drop 6 or 7 volts at any given time. I am guessing that everyone running their air conditioning impacts available power.

I'm any case the APC unit gives me a constant 117 volts (I am in Canada). BTW I have the A3000 and have no issues with this combo.

You have any other questions let me know.

Hi - I am considering replacing my Yamaha DSP A1 amplifier with the 2000/2010 - 3000/3010 models - in the past I have always steered clear of any unit that had an FM receiver in it, as these do. The reason being that while on headphones, no matter what input I select on various different models, I can hear FM bleed through faintly in the background - which is distracting to me. Has anyone, who listens with headphones noticed this with these models?

If the circuit is really that overloaded, I don't know if a power conditioner is going to solve everything.

Yes the circuit can get over loaded at times momentarily such when the refrigerator or the air conditioner compressor starts, the rush of juice out of the plug can cause a power sag. I can tell when I see the lights dim a bit for about half a second. That's why I'm considering the APC H15BLK, it has a voltage regulator to insure a consistent flow of electricity during power sags to prevent stress on the power supplies inside the receiver which I suspect caused the processor lockup in the first place.

Just got my A1000, trying to hook up the new 2011 refreshed mini and all I got was a blank screen. I tried switching cables and nothing worked, even cables that worked with my other components. If I plug the mini into the TV directly, there is no problem. The TV btw is a Samsung LNT4665.

The mini is setup as a HTPC and would have been the primary media player. Any idea/suggestion on what to do. Any settings to change. Thanks.

Make sure you turn video processing OFF for the input that the Mini is hooked up to, and disable all scaling for it. Let the computer do the scaling. Once that's done, you should be fine.

A friend of mine just picked an A3000 up and would like to know too. However he would ideally like to run all 13 channels on external amps. He would settle for at least everything, but the presence speakers on external. Otherwise I don't think he will keep it.
