this game is awesome. finally a game that lives up to the hype. and if you buy it at walmart as i did, they throw in a copy of arkham asylum, game of the year edition. so if you missed that one, there's a free chance to try it out. it's a bundle, so it's not like the employee won't know about the offer or anything.

Do you know if Walmart has the same deal for the 360?

guys a question about the catwomen DLC.

i have at home 3 playstations. now if i buy batman arcade city. and add the code under a user name on my ps3. that username is shared on all the other 3 ps3s.

i always use that name to share my downloadable PSN games and works great.

would that also work for batman DLC?

because i am not planning to buy 3 DLC codes for catwomen.

i know with Fifa 12 it didnt work. because i also need to login on EA servers.

so could anybody tell me if it is possible to share the DLC code?

thanks

Not sure about Batman specifically, but there are no DLC releases I know of that can be shared.

This is such an epically massive SP experience I almost feel overwhelmed... and even a bit sorry for Batman (/jk). I mean here he is with his next main objective in sight, and some political prisoner can be heard screaming, "Help me, someone, please help me!" as he's getting pummeled. At the same time, the pay phone starts ringing, trying to detour him on another series of side missions. But before he does anything, there's a large button with a big green question mark on it next to his foot... and then another, and another. In the meantime, the Batcomputer keeps suggesting he complete some virtual training missions ... and that's only in the first couple of hours, and doesn't even include the Catwoman story side missions or challenge rooms. Worth every penny to say the least.

I'm really liking all the improvements made over AA. There's definitely a nice feeling of flow and speed as he grapples and glides around the city. The combat mechanic feels a lot smoother, and the ability to counter more than one thug simultaneously helps address the targetting issues during combat sequences. And I still have yet to touch some of the upgraded abilities and weapons.

I'm also really enjoying the Catwoman side story and using her unique moves and abilities in combat and stealth. It very much adds something to the overall experience without feeling like a distraction from the main Batman story path. So far the Catwoman missions feel well placed and not "tacked on."

^^^ Make another thread please if you want to promote console warz discussions. Let's keep the PS3 Batman thread simply about the game itself.

Not just that, but if someone's going to cite a console comparison video/article, they'd better be damn sure it's by Digital Foundry. Otherwise, it's useless. And folks certainly shouldn't cite IGN as a definitive source for anything, let alone a tech comparison.

About a hour in and I'm diggin it. The story pacing seems a little clunky but so did the AA and I dug that a bunch.

Really digging it in 3d too, just enough depth, they didn't try and over do it.

Was torn on catwoman dlc. It's a rental (as are 99 percent of my games) so I didn't bite. I read the dlc is mean to play right off the bat with the regular game, I hope I don't regret skipping it.

The catwoman story goes right along with batman. It's very well integrated.

I never thought I'd say this sentence in my life, but props to K-Mart!!!

I signed up for their free rewards program to get in on the deal for this game. With a purchase of Batman (in-store only) using your membership code, you get a $10 off coupon for the new Lord of the Rings game (meh) and a $30 off coupon for any other gaming purchase.

All K-Marts in Southern California are sold out of the game and the deal ends tomorrow. I e-mailed a K-Mart rep at their gaming blog (filled with angry people around the U.S. who can't find the game), and they e-mailed me back:

Hey there,

Unfortunately we sold out of Batman Arkham City almost everywhere due to a massive sell-through. But we will gladly send you a $30 gift card to you so you won’t miss out on the savings. So please send us your address so we can send you the gift card right away. But just an FYI – we should get product in by next Friday from Warner Bros.

Thanks,

It's pretty awesome that I get a $30 discount for any K-Mart game purchase whether I buy Batman from them or not.

thanks BKlightning.

by the way this game is awesome. still struggling a bit with the combos. but it is a fast improvement over arkham asylum.

I'm not feeling this game so far. The story seems contrived, just to get different bad guys into a game at the same time. The play mechanics are still boring, either button mashing combat or sneaking around using gadgets. I just got past the part where
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
beat Penguin after saving Freeze
. Does the game get much better? If not I may move on to something else for now.

I don't think there will be whole lot more new with the gameplay mechanics from what you've experienced--just a bit more complexity with the challenges, boss battles, perhaps a few gadgets/moves that you haven't unlocked/upgraded yet. The story certainly evolves and questions are answered, but if you already don't like the set up ...

The thing about this game is you can pretty much get through it just like you did the first Batman, or you can work on incorporating the various new gadgets and moves in both combat and stealth missions. If you are not a completionist or trophy hunter (some of the Riddler physical challenges require using the various gadgets/moves in certain ways) or like experimenting with something different, then you might not see any need.

The one ray of hope for your enjoyment of the game may be the new game+, which is supposed to be much more challenging (I haven't started it yet myself), but to get there you'll have to beat the story mode.

I personally had a lot of fun in all phases of the game. I especially enjoyed exploring the open maps and figuring out the right combination of gadgets/moves to unlock the 400+ Riddler trophies scattered throughout, and doing the various side missions. But then again, I'm a compulsive completionist when it comes to things like this. I also liked the story quite a bit, though I'm not a comic book geek or well versed in Batman lore from the various cartoon series.

I just received this game today, how do I get it to play in 3D. I've been playing 2D. I have PS3>HDMI>Panasonic 60GT30. I must be missing something.

EDIT: Found 3D settings menu

Anyone got it yet? Ten bucks for two hours sounds a bit steep. But if it's an awesome two hours then I'll grab it. Plus, I haven't played as Robin yet so that will be new.
I had planned on getting the Harley DLC day one until I heard the two hours part. Now I'm not sure I can justify it.
I enjoyed the game and I am definitely going to be picking this up. (I don't buy too much DLC, so I don't care to splurge a little bit for the ones I really want). Plus this is freakin Robin + 2 more hours of Arkham city.
