Advice On AVR To Match With Current Setup

To start it off, sorry for the redundant "which receiver thread", but not my expertise at all, and have done a lot of research with no definitive answers. Alright, so here's my list of equipment.
- Benq W6000 or Epson 8500UB (still up in the air)
- Polk Monitor 70
- Polk CS1 Center
- BIC America F-12 Sub

Then I will have an XBOX 360, XBMC HTPC, and HD Cable Box to connect as well. So 4 HDMI ports should suffice.

It will be used for TV, Movies, and Music. Probably 70 HT / 30 Music.

My budget for the receiver is $400. Anything cheaper that will do the job is fine as well, obviously.

The room I am not exactly sure of the dimensions as it is my apartment at school next year and currently under construction, but if I had to ballpark it I would say 25' x 16', somewhere in that range. Its a studio, so the kitchen is connected, open to the 25' x 16' room, so that adds some more space.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys.

I hate to bump this, but I would really appreciate some expert advice. I have a Harmon Kardon AVR-154 I found in my closet, but I don't think that's gonna cut it in terms of power.

Try the 154 out. You might find it has enough power for those speakers. The Polks aren't hard to drive and HK has good amps in their AVRs.

If you still think you need a different AVR after trying out the 154 take a look at Onkyo - the RC160 or SR607 which are very similar - nearly clones actually. Denon - 590 or 1610 (both are 5.1) - Pioneer VSX 820 or 1019.

All are decent entry level AVRs. But so is your 154 - I doubt you'd find much difference between it and the others in your budget range.
