I have a Nvidia 3d vision PC. I have directv at home and I was wondering if theres a way to view the espn3d channel on my pc using some kind of tv tuner?

You need an Avermedia HDDVR PCIe card.

It's been confirmed it works with stereoscpic player.

I'm working on setting up the BlackMagic Design Intensity (with Gefen Component to HDMI adapter) or simply the Intensity Pro or Intensity Shuttle with Stereoscopic Player.

I was just having some driver settings problems but that should work too if you already have this card. I'll post back in this thread once I have it working.

Which avermedia card can do it. On mtbs3d I found people using the Avertv CaptureHD H727 card, but looks like its not sold in the US. What I see is the Avertv HD DVR PCi-e MTVHDDVR card @ newegg and Amazon. Is that the one I need?

the ones with HDMI inputs:
AVerTV CaptureHD H727 or DarkCrystal HD Capture ProC027

both are not available here. I am confused because John here says its possible but on nvidia's forums a guy says it is not. Should I spend 90 bucks and then return it if it does not work?
The HDDVR card is the one. You need a program called Stereoscopic player. I dare say that 3D Vision is not required.

Way more information in this thread.

Yep, You don't have to record if your software has "Live View"...

HDCP should actually stop you from recording it.

I do have the stereoscopic player from 3dtv.at. Is that the one?

Do I need a separate cable to get audio out or will the hdmi cable be enough to output audio from the directv receiver?
yes stereoscopic player
& the hdmi cable is all you need (with the aver card)
How did you manage to get your Aver Card to work with Windows Media Center 7? Mine doesn't see it for some reason. It doesn't think the Aver Card is a proper capture card. I have to use software that came with the card.....it doesn't work on the fly with Stereoscopic player.
im not using the hdmi/stb/avermedia card.
i have a direct Sat stream going to a dvb-s tuner(whole other world/red pill)

I just wanted to show that all commercial 3D content available, is doable on our PC's !!!

i will now delete my useless posts/replies....

what is this gefen hdmi detective that I keep hearing about. I wouldnt need that now, would I?

sad to say, but I have given up on the project for now...looks like I need the gefen device. I dont have anybody that owns a 3d tv, so getting an edid is practically impossible. Then there is a problem with audio so will have to send audio to pc separately. I dont have optical in on my soundcard. So probably a digital toslink to mini adapter. Considering all this equipment will go on my computer desk. Its going to be a clusterf**k with cables and equipment dangling around. I will wait to save some money and get a decent 3d tv and avr sometime next year. Thanks for your help guys!!!
yes it can get a little discouraging
tru3d sells a kit with pre loaded EDID > Mits 3-D-A/Gefen/specs.

hang in there , youll love the end results!!!
What kind of 3Dtv EDID do you need? I have the Mits 3DA-1 adapter as well as a Mits 73C9.
Thread Starter
pjb16, I think its the edid from the adapter, not really sure!!
If you get a gefen you can definitely capture the EDID off my adapter if you want.

thanks for the offer, pjb16. can someone answer if that is exactly what I would need, EDID from the 3da-1 adapter. Will it pass audio as well?

I went ahead and ordered the gefen from Amazon, will get here on 24th...hoping it all works out!

The aver card is rough on me. I have found so few motherboard / GPU combo's I can get this card to work with.

I have a few motherboards I can try it on. The gpu I have is the 470 but dont know if the aver card uses gpu for processing. I thought it was cpu dependent.
No, but the 470 is what I have and it takes two PCI-e slots. If I put the Avercard in the slot on the other side of the 470 GPU I got a message in device manager that states "Found this card, but can find no resources to allow it use"....

I am downgrading to a 240 GPU, but I am having a heck of a time making the change since 3D Blu-ray is working so well on it as is.

Wouldn't the Ceton CableCARD work, for a cable provider?
Ken,
I am not sure what/whose post you are responding to.
But the Ceton card is definitly designed to use the "M" cards from the cable providers.

BlackMagic Intensity works btw.

I got the avertv hddvr card to work with uverse's espn 3d broadcast but I cant get sound out. And since my sound is handled by the PC soundcard which has no optical in, I am SOL
post #29 of 30
I just plugged the TOSLINK from the Comcast HD DVR into my A/V Receiver separately. There is no lag using my Intensity.

Since I dont have a AVR near my gaming pc, I cant do that. I am waiting for monoprice to ship me their toslink to analog converter box and then use a RCA to mini adapter to feed it in stereo to my soundcard.
