Hi,
Like many, I've been caught in the trap of not ordering the remote as I already had one, and not realising that what that means is that the internal receiver is not supplied either.
However - I've ordered one of these remotes (sorry cant post link - its on the Quiet PC com Website, and there is also a link showing photos of how to install on an internal USB) /gb-en-gbp/products/caseaccessories/hfx-600, and I notice that they supply instructions to optionally install the receiver internally with an internal USB cable. I've also looked at the Zino service manual on Dell's website, and notice that the IR Connector looks very much in the illustration like an Internal USB header.
So, what I'd like to know from anyone that did order the Zino with the remote - is whether or not it is actually a USB device. This can be found by looking at the IR receiver in Device Manager (may be shown as a HID device), selecting the properties tab, and selecting the Property drop down and choosing the "Location Information" property. If the Value is shown as something like "Port_#xx.Hub_#xx" where xx are numbers - then its likely that the device is in fact a USB device. Another way of verifying this, is to go to the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" branch in Device Manager, and opening the "Generic USB Hub" items. Clicking the "Power" or "Advanced" tab will show the devices that are attached to that "Hub".
If someone could do this, perhaps supported by some screen shots? - that would be great, and would provide a really neat solution for those of us that didn't order the IR Remote. NB. The Logitech forums explain that this remote is one of the few fully supported by Harmony remotes, although IMO it looks pretty nice anyway...
