IMAX on Blu-ray at 8K!: Ryan Mullins Speaks on Grand Canyon Adventure
With the release of MacGillivray Freeman Films' Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk, the Blu-ray format has seen its first IMAX title sourced from an 8K scanned master (8192 pixels of horizontal resolution). Big Picture Big Sound was able to speak with Ryan Mullins, President of Big Picture Digital Productions Inc. (no relation), the company that handles the MacGillvray Freeman releases on Blu-ray Disc and DVD for Image Entertainment. Mr. Mullins gives us insight into the exciting new process that they used for this new release, pushing the boundaries of Blu-ray technology.
If it dosent say Bluray 3d on the box..I will not buy it..AS in this uk sight the box is different then the amazon de grand canyon .Which says bluray 3d....Sure most of these titles are just bluray 3d movies. Not the true bluray 3d...Confusing to most..But unless the box reads as this ...
Except for the last two in the list, all of the entries have the following statement in the listing:
This item includes an active Blu-ray 3D disc. To watch that disc you'll need a 3D-capable display, a pair of 3D glasses and a compatible Blu-ray player.
It is possible that the covers in the listing are not the cover that will be on the shipped version.
Amazon's listings would sound more than a little bogus if it wasn't for the link in Lee's posting which clearly states the Van Gogh movie will be released in 3-D on Blu-ray. But that still doesn't explain what's happening here, since most of the listed titles weren't filmed or exhibited stereoscopically...
