Infocus SP4805 hang problem

Hi,

My Infocus SP4805 projectors has started to hang. I own this one for over 5 years.

I tried to upgrade to the latest FW 1.3.2, which was successful. I was able to hook up my computer and use it for a while. Other video inputs (component) does not come up with an image.

After the PJ has run for few minutes, even the menu option stop working. All remote and projector buttons become unresponsive and the PJ has to be forced shutdown.

Thanks

Sounds like the main board has failed. Time for a new projector...

I would agree.

Is there a salvage value?

What are the equivalent alternatives?

There is no salvage value. The parts are only useful in another 4805.

As far as equivalent alternatives, there are a lot. I would suggest you go to

http://www.projectorcentral.com/projectors.cfm

and plug in the physical parameters that you have, screen size, distance, etc., and it will give you a list of projectors that match your situation. Your should also pay attention to the position of lens as going from a projector with the lens on the left to one on the right will change where the projector needs to be mounted to line up with the screen unless you choose a projector with lens shift.

For what's it worth, PM me. I should be able to sell-off the lamp at-least :-)
