Onkyo TX-NR807 Interference issue.

Hi All

I'm picking-up interference output to my speakers on my Onkyo TX-NR807 receiver. I've started a thread on my countries local AV forum, but thought I'd try here two - considering I'd really like this solved as simply as possible.

The receiver has gone back to the supplier who tested it and found no fault, it was then sent back to the store, where I tested it, and it was fine, got home, and the interference was there, tried at a friends house and the interference was there.

NOTES:
1.) I have a 5 speaker configuration
2.) The interference is only ever output on the LEFT and RIGHT front channels.
3.) The interference is across all sources.
a. PS3 over HDMI
b. Media Center over Coax
c. HDTV over Optical or HDMI
4.) I have tried switching everything off at the circuit board, including lights and geyser, leaving only the PS3 on receiver.
5.) The interference can be heard at the speaker from around -25db, it can be heard from the couch 3m away from around -10db.
6.) I have tried different plug points in the house
7.) I have tried different power cables and speaker cables
8.) I have tried different speakers.
9.) I have reset the receiver.
10.) On turning the receiver on, there is no interference until a source outputs a sound, then even when turning off the source the interference remains.
11.) When switching audio modes, the interference goes away until a sound is played.
12.) It is worse in the "Surround" modes.
13.) Whether the receiver is cold or hot makes no difference.

Attached is a mp3 clip of the interference.

The store is making arrangements to visit my place next week (hopefully)

Interesting problem. How close is your friend's house to yours? What I'm thinking is this could be electrical interference from a Ham radio broadcast tower or cell phone tower nearby that the Onkyo is susceptible to.

If/when the store rep visits have them bring another AVR with them - the same model.

Interesting and annoying.

I tried a decent spec'd Yamaha receiver and old Sony receiver - they were either fine, or too under powered for me to hear the interference.

I can also hear when using the NET mode, its not as bad, but its there - which I suppose eliminates the sources.

Friend as about 2-3km away. I haven't seen any towers in the area - but will keep looking, thanks for the response.
