They deserve it.

You knowingly buy a device with greatly restricted functionality, you get to face the consequences.

Get a real tablet. Or better yet, get a real computer.

Or a real thread?

iPads have a certain hipster following that wouldn't be caught dead streaming clips of ST:TNG. So realistically, it's a few thousand who also have other means of looking at the clips.

Oh, geez... I have to break out a double for this one:

I'd love to see your Venn diagrams indicating the discrepancy between iPad users and Star Trek: The Next Generation online clip streamers.

I think I need another one:

You better tell all the IT folks in my company that they're not supposed to be using them, because they are. Along with Macbook Pros.

IT ♥ Apple

Of course you did. Just checking.

I never understood Apple-haters and their intense need to put down what is actually a really nice hardware/software ecosystem. I use OS X, Windows 7, and several flavors of Linux almost daily for my job. They're all great these days.

Can we get back to TNG now that the kids have had their fun?

Can't wait for the first season. I've held off watching my DVDs in anticipation of the Blu-ray release, and it's finally going to be a reality. I'm really pleased with the screenshots, and while I do wish the new CG had been a bit more faithful to the original, it's difficult to argue with the quality. Revisionism done right?

No need for the snark, I was just having fun. I get asked a dozen times A week why i don't own a Mac and it is annoying as hell. The pic was more a commentary on the user, not the technology.

Has anyone received their copy? Amazon UK have just shipped mine. Curious to hear opinions once people get theirs.

So my copy of The Next Level arrived last night and I threw it in for a spin. Wow! Even my five year old daughter was getting into Encounter at Farpoint. So my verdict: Are there nits that can be picked? Probably. Does it look far better than anyone, including the original creators, imagined it would ever look? Most definitely. I'm really happy with the $15 purchase to hold me over until the season boxes start coming out. I even scheduled a "viewing party" with my brother and his family for this weekend (we used to get together to watch the original airings too). Oh oh, dating myself!

Can I come?

Nah, it's cool, my copy should arrive tomorrow or Thursday. I have to remember to join Amazon Prime to get stuff on release day. I'm going to go nuts over the next couple days reading all the reviews that will inevitably pour in!

Just stopped by my local BB, picked it up for $14.99:

The lady at the register was like:"We don't match Amazon." Me:"Can I talk to your manager?" The manager looks at the open page on my smart phone: "OK, no problem."

Will check it out tonight, and post my thoughts!

Got my copy and popped it in this evening. Definitely a massive improvement in many ways. I do notice the yellow push that a number of scenes (particularly the bridge) seem to have gotten, as mentioned on here. I suppose that's as much because I read/saw it here first, but when you've only recently seen the DVDs you do tend to notice these things.

But this is forgiveable - the show, in so many ways, looks unbelievably fresh like you never imagined it could. I also like the fact that they've widened up the ratio ever so slightly - it is quite visibly wider than the DVD presentation, and that's a big plus. Definitely looking forward to the full series when it hits later this year!

Yeah another vote here for how great this disc is!!! I got goosebumps when the title sequence started playing in all its lossless glory. I've only watched the first half of Farpoint so far but CBS/Paramount has done an absolutely outstanding job & I canot wait to see the rest of this series.

How is the 7.1 DTS-HD audio track? Can I assume it's preferable to the original 2-channel stereo mix?
My copy is waiting at Best Buy for me to pick up. I ordered it at 3:00 am before going to bed because something told me that it's going to sell out fast. Boy was I right. Checked all the Best Buys in the area and they were all sold out when I got out of bed. I will post my findings later tonight after I pick this bad boy up.

Well I only have a 5.1 setup but the lossless track is quite an audible difference over the DVD's DD-5.1 audio.

Hey STOP THE TNG TALK..The mods are gonna throw down!!
I thought this was an Apple-Bashing-Fest

All kidding aside, I would love to get one of these copies ASAP!!!

Sounds awesome. I hope the project is a big success so we might get DS9 which is my fave
post #1348 of 2378
Waiting with baited breath for mine to arrive from UK

And yes I hope one day we see Voyager/DS9. They should release Enterprise too (I'm sure they could do that now if they wanted). I think hoping to see any Voyager/DS9 before all of TNG is released is being really optimistic tho but you never know.

ENT wouldn't be too hard, they'd just have to redo the early season FX aka TOS, since they were done for SD. DS9 would be the same process we have here.

VOY needs to be soaked in gasoline and burned.
