My guess would be "Encounter at Farpoint", "Q-Who", and "Best of Both Worlds" are a given for the first episodes to remaster. That gives you the pilot plus the introduction to the Borg plus the 2-parter that really put the show onto the map.

Beyond that, there are a lot of random episodes that are good and a few 2-parters... but I would expect those to be the starting point to get an idea on how it could look.

They may also pick a Klingon episode to feature a space battle or something with Klingon ships since those look cool.

I'm not sure "Encounter at Farpoint" would make the cut. My guess would be:

1) "Q-Who"
2) "Best of Both Worlds" (movie #8 tie-in)
3) "Yesterday's Enterprise"

Really anything on the "Borg Collective" or "Worf" sets (I have the LDs) is worthy, but there are a few other top-notch episodes more worthy than the pilot.

I've never really liked Encounter at Farpoint.

So when do you all think these will leak out before the release date so I can determine if I want to buy them or cancel my pre-order? I am not referring to downloading. I want to know when these discs will be in the wild.

All three of those would be on my list!

That is one of my top favorites, too!...Yesterday's Enterprise. I have always been fascinated by the Klingon civil war story arc, as well. ...and what about those alien parasites that covertly infested starfleet leadership? ...and the illegal cloaking Federation prototype ship? ...and Guntoo? ...and when Picard was a Kardassian POW?

I wonder if this means we're inching closer towards Enterprise, being released on Blu-Ray? I'm late to that show, currently on Season 3 on Netflix streaming it, and am enjoying the hell out it. Since it was shot and broadcast in HD, seems logical they would bring it out on Blu-Ray at some point.

My guess is they are gearing up for a large Star Trek 12 marketing campaign with tie-ins and such. They'll release it when ST hype is at a fever pitch. Pretty standard. Enterprise was a good experiment at breaking the mold, and that Vulcan chick is very talented.

I wouldn't be surprised to see TNG and Enterprise Blu-rays come out alongside ST12.

Some of the best TV ever.

They should put Darmok in that first group, just to really showcase the human exploration/ambassadorship side of the show.

Yesterday's Enterprise is my absolute favorite TNG episode.

I'd love to see TNG, Enterprise, and DS9 on BD. But even though BD has been out for 5 years, I'm amazed at how many TV shows that were broadcast in HD are NOT available on BD. There are several current popular shows that aired over the 2010-2011 season which are being released on DVD but not Blu.

IMHO, Paramount knows they're going to release some more Trek TV seasons on BD, but the questions are when and which series? Tie-ins with the new Trek movie seem like a logical time.

Well if they're going to start with some of the more popular episodes I can't see how they wouldn't include:

Yesterday's Enterprise
Best of Both Worlds
All Good Things

Those three seem so to be very good starting points as they're extremely popular and all offer some real reason to redo the special effects. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Tin Man.

+1 for Tin Man that is one of the best episodes!

Personally I hope they don't do All Good Things to begin with.... gives us something to look forward to when the full seasons are released. Don't particularly like watching finale's when I haven't seen any other of TNG for ages

Darmok & Gilad at Tinagra?

But seriously...

I'm not a huge fan of "Encounter at Farpoint" either... but it was the pilot episode... so I'm thinking that they would be inclined to do it sooner than later, especially for syndication purposes. It is the beginning of the Next Generation.. and for TOS, they did restore "The Cage" fairly early in the process and that was the rejected pilot.

There are four lights!!

I'd like to see The Next Phase, Parallels, and The Pegasus, but the other choices aren't bad.

I like the ones where there is a stand-off between the Enterprise and x number of Romulan Warbirds. It never turns into any sort of skirmish, but the resulting tension is always scrumptious!

Shades of Gray

Kidding...what an abomination

Riker: "Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you"

Awesome scene. I loved that whole episode to be honest. There was never enough conflict between the Romulans and the Federation during TNG. I really wanted to see an all out fight between the Enterprise and a Warbird. Datas Day and The Defector were good candidates but we never got it. Ah well.

I do like Star Trek TNG, watched it since its original airing on Sky One back in the early 90's. However i'd say only 60% of the episodes are actually really watchable. You have the really great espionage / spying / conflict episodes, then you have to watch Data play Sherlock Holmes in a cringeworthy holodeck recreation or some other nonsense. Some of those other episodes just come across (to me at least) as something of a farce.

I understand that some of that must have been budget related, as its far cheaper to film a; "Riker and Troi fall in love" episode than a massive space battle, I just think some of the storylines are really poor.

I'm just hoping that this is successful enough to get DS9 on BD.
I really liked the continuation of Worf's story there and the war that eventually happened.

Any chances to see more of Robert O'Reilly play Klingon Chancellor Gowron is always a good thing!

"The Klingon Empire will remember what has happened here. You have sided against us in battle. And this we do not forgive...or forget!"

Chills!

I grant you that quote was effective... until the next season when Gowron did in fact forgive and forget

Haha, true. But it's easier to forgive and forget when the Dominion is kicking your ass. Even so, he was a great character! The other great one was Martok, played by J. G. Hertzler. Great stuff.
