Highlander Season Two - "Ready to ship"

According the the official Highlander Facebook page, Season Two on Blu is "in our warehouse and ready to ship."

(Discussion of the deservedly maligned Season One release is here.)

According to the comments, the decorative pillars can be toggled on and off this time:

"Yes, you'll be able to turn the pillars on and off. Some people loved them, some hated them!"

And they are once again up-converts:

"Our choice was either have it at 720p and charge $49.95 per set or have it at 1080p and charge $3,000 per set. No joke!"

New special features, new interviews.

Advertised specs:

CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND
Enjoy Highlander in Surround Sound! Digitally re-mastered Soundtracks, encoded with state of the art DTS 5.1 and embedded Stereo 2.1 Master Audio

ENHANCED PICTURE
Davis/Panzer delivers stunning HD quality shows with breakthrough proprietary video enhancement and cleaning algorithm using Apple and AJA hardware platforms

If they are indeed shipping soon, people should start receiving them relatively quickly, maybe.

I'll report on the quality difference between these and Season One when I get them.

Cover art and ordering information on TVShowsOnDVD.com.

The first season was the 480i NTSC tape masters upscaled to 720p of all things. This isn't even worth looking into, especially if you have the DVDs already.

Honestly what is the point of 480i upscaled to 720p? This is the most retarded thing I have ever heard. SD is SD people. It is like putting a .38 special round in a .357 magnum revolver and expecting 1200 fps when you are only going to get 750 fps. You are limited to your source material!

They show a re-release for season 1 on the website. Anyone know what the difference is?

It now matches the specs of seasons 2+. I.e. lossless audio, and ability to remove the framing boarder if you want just the 4:3 image. They also say the visual quality has been improved due to new upscaling methods, but I honestly don't know how much stock to put into that.
