New Dune HD Max and HD Smart anticipation thread Q3 2010 - Page 357

Hey all,

Selling my Dune H1 in the Classifieds if anyone is looking to pick one up. Purchased new from Diamond Design and in excellent shape.

Thanks,
Brian

I put this in the zappiti thread, but this one tends to get more action.

I've got a question for shows that may not have standard conventions in their season structure. In example, the History channel started off with season 1, 2, 3, but at some point they changed to years. So their format is 2010x22, etc. Please see here for an example. http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=80996&lid=7 The show in question is Sniper: Deadliest Missions. Is there any way to get Zappiti to scrape this?
Have you tried naming the episodes with the year number just like TVDb does it, eg: S1994E01?
I finally got it to work by doing this, but first has to remove the. File from the folder, scan, clean up, move file back in, scan, then scrape. Just renaming the file while in the folder and scanning didn't work. Thanks.

Just updated firmware to 131213_0131_b6 after notification popped up. Anyone knows what changed?

lol

Got a different question. I had a few Dunes but it's been 7 months or so since I've had one hooked up. I've replaced all my old Dunes and set up a D1 the other day and can't remember what I had the video output settings at on the old ones. I'm pretty sure I had the resolution set to 1080p24 with auto framerate 24/25/50/60p set but can't remember how I had the color space settings set up. I want to say that I had it set to BT709 for everything as I had very little content at rec601 and wasn't too worried about an expanded gamut for the rare SD content I did have.

What does everyone else use for their colorspace settings? IIRC, a bluray folder or iso will play back at RGB 4:4:4 anyway and these settings won't affect that but will affect everything else.

You don't want 1080p24 as it makes the Dune menu navigation dog slow.

I leave color space on auto.

My settings (and happy with it - no video stutter with BR and a semi-snappy menu):

   Video mode: 1080p 60Hz

   Auto framerate: 24/50/60Hz

   Output colorspace: Auto

   Default decoder colorspace: Auto

The color space seems to be OK. I am feeding it into a Lumagen Mini 3D and from there into a JVC RS45.  I always wondered what the best setting would be.

That has already been supplanted by 131224_0132_b8.

According to leptosoma at MPC Club, and very unofficially:
Code:
Gathering the changelog from the zapitti player site together with some findings in the Russian forums, the following log of changes can be considered as unofficial:
- Fix the MKV 23.976p issues.
- Update the French translations.
- Initial wizard is extended with "Network Setup" and "Time Zone Setup" steps.
- A lot of HLS playback fixes and improvements.
- Plugin-related improvements in the player menu.
- Fixed weather widget in native Dune UI.
- Help line is displayed when some text field is active.
- Improved time synchronization mechanism in case when NTP server is not reachable.
- Improved auto-start and auto-resume behaviour: it is now possible to cancel auto-start/auto-resume by pressing RETURN RC.
- Improved bluray_play action from flashlite applications: bluray-lite is launched on player models where real bluray is not supported.
- JS STB API is extended with the support for PiP.
- Fixes related to launching DVD and Blu-ray.
- Fixes related to USB DVB recording.
- Fixed bug with handling scan Wi-Fi networks errors.
- Fixed bug with hangup on specific TS files.
- Fixes related to multicast playback.
- Fixes related to RTSP playback.
- Fixes related to music playback from application using STB JS API.
- Fixed screen blinking on player menu startup.
- Fixed rare sporadic hangups during startup.
- Fixed PCM issue in camera MOV files
- Added HDMI-CEC

It is beta and one user on the same thread reports that
Code:
yADIS not start automatically now !!!!
Hard drives start slowly 20 seconds after showing the menu of Dune HD

Hard drives names are no longer displayed (now showing under USB,USB1.... Internal1....)

I installed zappiti on my machine. When I try to configure it opens "setup wizard" and it says where are your files. When I select, network attach it shows "disk station" as shown here without folders.

I can see the files on windows using
\\192.168.2.5\media\Videos\English\Movies

How do I configure manually this path? Dune is failing to show folders under disk station. Appreciate any help.
I'd also note that these are the generic changelog, it doesn't all apply to ours. For instance the JS STB API seems to only be the on 72 chip based devices (i.e. the new 3D ones), not ours unfortunately.

anyone tested a Fox disc on their B1/Max ? Does this new firmware make it playable ?
Mr Eric can you name a few that dont play and if I have the disks I can test on my max and let you know.
I cant remember which ones I had that didnt play.
thanks
Prometheus ? Ice Age 3 ?

TBH, I'm in the same position : can't remember which one I've got that didn't work (I'm not even playing any disc now, just ripping right away. the problem was on rental discs I don't own so can't rip...).

here's a list : http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?studioid=1&sortby=releasetimestamp

Any 2013 release should be OK for a test.

pretty sure I've played many Fox releases on my H1.

Just watched enough said last week. Pretty sure the problems are with the rips more so than the discs (though the discs can be a problem, sometimes the rips prevent it from being seen).

going through the list of what I've watched on my H1

Don Jon
the family (ugh)
the wolverine
the internship
star wars (all 6)
a smattering of the maryln monroe movies.
Cleopatra

that's just the first few pages of the list.

.

The Dunes were never updated for new security on fox discs so its not rips as the rips played when security was stripped. it was true retail content
post #10698 of 10805
Exactly. The rips play perfect, the problem is with discs. Of course if you have a H1 without a BR drive, you can't have the problem I've got wink.gif
post #10699 of 10805
ok, so just rip it and forget it smile.gif
post #10700 of 10805
That's what I do for the BR I own, but I would like to avoid losing time to rip when I rent a fox movie...
Mr Eric
I just checked the list you linked to

I remember I bought Skyfall disc for my Bond set and it didnt work on the Dune Max
I just tried it and it still doesnt work on the Max
It just gets stuck on Zero as it did before.
So Dune havent fixed Fox titles for the Max in version B8 Beta--bugga
So the optical drive is useless for fox titles
I bought these discs that dont play bugga
I have the Max on my tv in the tv room
In my dedicated movie room I have the Base 3.0 for menu's and the Base 3D for most other
and a dedicated bluray disc player.
I now dont use the Base 3.0 for anything but titles that need full menu.
I use it less hoping it wont die as you cant get them no more but love the stability too of it

So, I upgraded my Dune D1 to the latest B8 beta firmware, and now my D1 screen does the count 1, 2, 3, READY. It stays frozen in READY MODE. The remote is useless, and to turn it off / on I've got to flip the back on / off switch or disconnect the power cord. Any suggestions?

Maybe go back to previous firmware and try or try downloading file again and manually install

Seems dune didnt test things properly as they said they do

Confirmed that this new beta does not read the "dune_folder.txt" files correctly on ext drives or remember them. The previous beta does.

I didn't go to bed till like 5:30 am. However, I found the issue and solution. My router's firmware was updated, and everything was rebooted causing to provide new IP addresses. I had to manually add each device with their own MAC address. Thereafter, I had to flash back to B6 fore my D1.

Glad you had success

Is there any way to playback HD-DVD ISO's on Dune Smart D1?

On my primary HTPC with MediaPortal frontend; I use TMT6 which plays back HD-DVD ISO's just fine; can't seem to play them on Dune Smart D1 though.

No

Hmm. Think I might make MKV's of the HD-DVD ISO's then for Dune playback; I hate having duplicates but not sure if there's a choice.

Yeah, that is what I did, just converted all my HD DVDs to mkvs. No issues with playback once that was done.
