Yes, BD ISOs play great from an SMB share at 24fps bitstreaming TrueHD/DTS-MA audio to a receiver.

This and regular BD playback are the most important features to me. I guess the latter won't be confirmed until the B1 comes out.

Yes. I ordered a D1 earlier and it should ship next week. Now to build a NAS and some way to burn my bluray collection...

Looking at the D1 picture, there's an Eject button. Does it mean I can install BD ROM and play BD disc ?

I was told that it wasn't exactly clear yet, but it's likely that there won't be any stock left over for new orders out of this initial batch they (duneplayer.com) are receiving, and they expect the next shipment to arrive toward the end of November.

Just thought I'd pass that along.

My H1 has the eject button as well. Don't think it does anything.

That's what it looks like. Probably has the the up-grade or up-grade possibility for the new Sigma Board. Might be worth waiting for vs. an H1 with one or two HE's. Maybe the power supply is built in too?

Since I started buying electronics I've never heard of such a thing nor would ever truly believe it would be a simple process. It really could be a great little marketing scheme to entice potential buyers on the fence towards HDI. Really, I don't trust or believe things like this specially when HDI or anyone in that matter selling something is out just to make money. Anyone sign a contract? Hiya!

I inquired about this and received this response from Arthur in Sales at "DUNEPLAYER.COM" on Nov 1st:

"D1's are still available from the first batch (we ordered a lot of them)."

So I placed my order for a D1 yesterday

I've got to say that Arthur at DunePlayer.com has been GREAT about returning my emails right away. Thumbs up to their customer service in the sales dept!

And a shout-out to Damian for all the advice and information about Media Streaming!

Whenever I Google for ANYTHING streaming-related I always append "Damian" for the best results - HA!

Generally I would agree with you.

But in this case, it's clear that Sigma has a replacement for the 8642 SoC. Dune has at least announced an upgrade strategy that will use the Sigma 8646 SoC. http://dune-hd.com/news/144-future-upgrades.html I've seen nothing to suggest Dune would not honer this promise.

IMHO the writings on the wall that future new feature support for the older chip will probably have stopped by this time next year. Something will happen one way or the other for sure. With the announcement of the Dune HD Duo it might be wise to wait a few more weeks unless you just have to have it now.

BTW, when did "selling something to make money" become a bad thing? Isn't that generally the reason people make things to sell?

Can I ask whether anyone has watched OTA recordings from a MythTV installation with any Dune? And if you have, does trick play work? I want to skip the padding on the recordings and the commercials. I'd prefer a 30 second forward/10 second back skip, but a FFWD/RWD would work,

I have not seen the inside of the Dune, but reading the upgrade strategy makes me believe that upgrading the Dune Smart to the 8646 chip by "changing the main board" is like saying upgrading my computer by changing the motherboard. It may not be as straight forward or cost effective as it sounds...

My Denon 38008ci AVR was touted as feature upgradeable by Denon when it came out. Guess what? Only one firmware upgrade at $100 to enable some new features and now Denon is selling much newer more capable AVR (9.1 instead of 7.1) and could care less about the 3808ci.
