But without the actual dimensions I have no idea.

Correct. However I prefer zappiti to mymovies on the dune and it Is similar to yamj

Would be nice to have a Dune device in the same price range as the Popbox, Viewsonic, WD Live and others in the ~$120 range
post #34 of 10805
I assume all models have the same functionality as the current dunes (ie full bd menus)? I wouldn't mind seeing this dropped in a more dune lite sub 200 version as this is a feature I would never use but could be adding substantially to the cost

Oh man, that's just fine AFAIC http://zappiti.com/

This is the way it happens in any business; you make a misstep, and your competitors are right behind you, ready to beat your brains in.

I see nothing but new threads popping up, for this new player, and that new player. If Syabas doesn't get the Pop together, and I mean good...and I mean quick...they might be a footnote.

You can see more about Zappiti in my writeup here:

Duneplayer said they will be taking orders once they have a firm arrival date on the new units.

From the time of announcing a new player to the day consumer's can get their hands on them is usually a couple months, right? What I'm really hoping is they use the same firmware as the Prime/Base.

Can you tell them to hurry up
I can't wait.

HDI has said worldwide delivery in September.
Looks like the Samsung BD-C5500 and the WD Live Plus I'm testing right now are going back to the store. If you only get the D1, I wonder what information the display will show.

So, do all of these have Blu-ray licensing and thus support full menus? It seems that the smaller units would either all not have it, or all have it, since the drives can be swapped.

If they do, then this is really a great price for full bd iso menu functionality.

According to the duneplayer.com website, the Max is available now!

I assume they will be at Cedia, anyone know?

I really like the look of the box, alot classier than the netgear. But I will buy whatever works.

Looks promising.
Iboum doesn't have it in the list. What is the chipset?

No, "Pre Order Only! Expected September 2010"
It's gonna be a tall order for HDI Dune to fulfill all these wild expectations . . . !

(The realist in me is whispering "Could this be too good to be true?" I hope not!)

It looks like the same sigma chipset as the current base/prime 3.0. I was hoping for one of the newer 8646 or better yet 8656 but i may get a D1 or H1

I am "assuming" all the announced players will have full br menus just based on the pricing. Plus, all of the players can have a BR drive using the modules, so I would think that pretty much guarantees BR menus

Dunno if you know, but these units can later on be upgraded to whatever SMP8646 player they will bring by replacing the main board... This will happen by service centers though so I would prefer some way to have consumers at their own choice do it themselves and avoid shipping and what not...

But HDI Dune doesn't want anyone to do anything themselves . . . most companies don't.

Yes. Posted earlier in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...8#post19063148

Very excited about these new players, especially the choices. I'll likely be getting rid of my PCH C-200 and getting two HD Smart D1 units. Don't need an optical drive nor a hard drive as I have everything on my WHS. The form factor looks great as well as the front VFD display.

To anyone from Dune, will the ME extension module support USA ATSC over-the-air broadcasts? Please say yes. Can't see anyone in the USA paying $79 or anything for DVB.

D1 pre-ordered from Dune Player dot com. The shipping was steep, about the same as what Syabas charged me on my A200 pre-order. Now just need to count off the weeks till it arrives and hope that if I need additional units the wait time won't be too bad.

Wow, never thought you would bite

Right behind you jmpage2 . Just ordered a D1 for now; will likely order another if I end up really liking it. Glad my order last week for the Base didn't go through as it went out of stock just as I was ordering it.
