Can anyone confirm that even in the latest betas that have broken multichannel decoding, the core DTS track for DTSHD(MA), and the interleaved DD5.1 track for TrueHD, is sent over s/pdif?

I am using NFS. The index is located on an internal drive on my Dune. That should still be good, right? Thanks!

Should be fine spread across multiple volumes.

Need some screenshot help. All I get is a black screen. I'm taking a screenshot of a Blu-Ray, nothing shows up. The screenshot size is around 8MB, which seems right. But all I get is a black screen.

Yeah I get the same thing!

Which software did you do this with? My 2 alien discs are brand new! I have 2 different HDD's in my Duo and I tried both. Thing is I can't even get it to play over the network, the iso that is. My 900b plays it just fine over the network!

I used anydvd ripped to full bdmv structure. It should work I would think. I ripped the full disc (dc and original cut, with menus) to bdmv structure.

Looking for help guys. The dune acted up again where when you select a movie through the zappiti index it goes black for a sec (like its going to start the movie) but then it goes back to the zappiti backdrop for the movie. I tried a soft power on/off but that didn't fix it. The only fix so far is doing the power switch on the back. This is the second occurrence of this problem in a few days so I'm hoping to find a fix. Thank you.

Have you tried playing the files that do this outside of zappiti? Whenever zappiti does that to me, it usually means that the ISO that I created is messed up. If I extract the ISO to folder structure or remake it in DVD Fab, then it plays perfectly without zappiti going black for a second like it is about to play and then returning to the movie backdrop. I know dune does not play ISOs that do not have a UDF filesystem. Hope this helps

This stuff wasn't made up it's right on the Dune website. Seems weird they would change the product description and say it is a licensing issue in the firmware notes when it is really a bug. Hopefully what is really happening is they are getting proper licensing and will restore the feature in the firmware.

Exactly right. Someone went to the trouble to revise the website for 3 products. THAT wasn't a 'beta' bug.

Plus, this didn't just show up in a beta. It has been there since 110606_1315 update 1.

Whatever. As long as multichannel decoding of HD Audio is restored, they can spin it any way they like.

I haven't, but as stated, if I do a hard power cycle to the dune, the same file plays fine.

Hi all,

I am buying my D1 tomorrow, after a deep research. I also considered, but finally rejected, other players like Popcorn A-300 (too buggy at the moment) or Xtreamer Prodigy Black (overpromising company, underdelivering support)

I want to attach an USB pendrive (8gb) internally, to be used for System storage and also for Space storage (basically yadis export db). I have read tons of info about this, and it seems that to get USB memory partitioned working, we needed to install some strange Russian files.

Is this still the way to proceed or with the last firmwares the partition procedure has been simplified and can be done by the Dune right out of the box?

Many thanks for your replies

if I remember correctly : with your PC create 2 partitions on your thumb drive (2gb and 6gb). put something in the 6gb one and keep the 2gb empty. try to initialize the system storage from your dune, it should use the 2gb partition automatically.

Windows wont allow me to setup multiple partitions on my USB stick so I ended up using this free tool to create the two partitions and its working fine

http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Part...-10863346.html

BTW: Another thing I noticed is that the harmony profile for the Dune needs work. It doesn't even use the proper discrete power commands. Anyone using a dune with the harmony should tweak the device power settings to NOT USE POWER TOGGLE.

I had a dts master audio dropout again tonight, i have had maybe 5 the entire year since i had my dune, its just a split second. Im using a windows 7 machine, has anyone experienced this? Its typically on higher bitrate blu-rays i think upper 40's, to 50. My read speeds are 11MB/s, and streaming test using the bird scene shows 78mbps, always.

I assume everything is up to snuff, I am also bitstreaming but no other devices has these occasional split second dropouts. I also cant duplicate them so it has to be a streaming issue not a burn issue with discs.

Im guessing my windows 7 pc which im streaming from (hoping to build a server this year later) might have did something in the background, I know that can cause dropouts, but i typically have everything turned off .... torrents, virus scan, ect... when i stream high bitrate content on my pc to the dune.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced the split second audio dropout.

What are you talking about? I just got a Dune D1 last week. I installed a 8 gb usb flash drive in it without doing two partitions. I can access it from my computer or any other media player just fine. I am running Zappiti for my jukebox though.

I also notice my pc cpu usage jumps from about 1% to 20% streaming blu-ray, is that normal? It seems high.

I used to stream from my W7 PC with quad core amd processor, and the usage would go up to like 10% whenever I was stream blu-ray rips. I built an inexpensive ($330 dollars) unRaid server, which hold all my media now. I can stream movies to 3 different rooms without any issues

Yea Im going to go unraid later this year, for now though i just dont get why im jumping 15-20% cpu usage.

I am not to savvy in these areas but i noticed task manager shows im averaging around 17% streaming, but what is using it? When i click on processes theres about 3 files using 01, or 02 cpu, it would add up to about 5-6% not 17%-20%, is there things that can effect cpu usage not shown in processes tab?

2 partitions: 1 for System storage (2GB) and the other one for Space (e.g. yadis database). With only 1 partition the Dune will use it for System OR Space. What you dont understand?

Yeah, I understand that. I just don't understand why do a partition when you can use it for both anyway. Or at least mine anyway

Once you set up a drive as system storage it cannot be accessed otherwise (the reason why you need to create 2 partitions). System storage (1 partition) for shortcuts on your Dune and General storage (1 partition) to store jukebox files, etc...

See now that you put it in dummies term, I understand. I guess I was a little confused since I use my unRaid server for storage.

Great, thanks. So nothing else is needed, just to get the USB partitioned, no need to deal with the russian files (dfs)

This is not related to Dune player, but I thought I could get help.

I always buy external Western digital 2tb hard drives and use same power cable to disconnect/connect different drives(elements or my book).

Since Western digital is very expensive now, I am planning to buy Seagate 2tb hard drives. Is it ok to use same power cable from Western digital to connect Seagate 2tb drives. I think Western digital uses 12v dc.

Wondering if anybody is using same power cable for connecting Western digital/seagate hard drives.

I'll make a leap of faith that your are discussing external, powered HDDs. Most of the 12v power supplies use the same connector, but they are not all rated for the same power consumption. They can be anywhere from 500mA to 3A ratings for the larger drives. I'd look on the transformer for the output ratings, use whichever one has the biggest rating.

Given that your are apparently nearing critical mass for HDDs, consider getting a docking bay for bare drives, they come with up to 4 slots. It's fairly easy to remove the bare drives from the cases and use them that way. YMMV

Thanks for the quick reply. I will make sure to get the adapter that is highest output ampere rated(3a).

It is good idea to consider docking bay. There are too many cables now that are tangled and messy. Bay may help. Dune is good at connecting with any usb hub, but not oppo 93. Appreciate if you can share the model information about usb hub and bay that works with both of them. I like to have as more ports (12 port if possible) as possible.

No don't get the highest rated adapter. You can go a bit over the rated amperage but that's as far as I would go. But never go lower!

I'm currently using a couple of Thermaltake 2-bay docks with no issues. They also are the same width as the Smart H1/B/D units, and so they can sit on top nicely. The 4-bay docks are pricey, it's often cheaper to get 2 2-bay docks. All of the docks have their pluses and minuses but functionally they are all the same except for the interface types. USB is a bit more useful than eSATA, most have both.

Any powered USB-2 hub should work OK, just be sure it's rated USB-2. I use a Belkin. There's a lot of hubs still being sold that are not rated USB-2.

If you really need up to 12 drives, a NAS or network storage of some kind might simplify things for you. Only difference is that network transfers to and from the Dune are snail-slow, but for watching movies it's fine.

Got that for sale. PM for price if anyone interested? I don't need it.

The russian file file works flawlessly though. I did it last week, and took me no more than 15 seconds. You can achieve the same in Windows, but that's a hassle. Your pick...
