I have been using an Oppo 93 without any problems. The UI is really basic...only folders. My Oppo will continue to be my reference universal disc player but ISO support has been removed.
1.) will the Dune support 3TB usb drives formatted in NTFS?
2.) The My Movies UI looks like it will serve my needs...do most people use this with Dune players?
3.) Are there parental controls for My Movies--say if I wanted to restrict access to R-rated material?
4.) Can I load My Movies program on an SD card?
5.) Is there a maximum amount of drives you can hook up to the dune?
6.) Are there Harmony One codes for Dune players?
Thanks!
I don't use My Movies, but can answer some of these.
1. I have heard, though it is unconfirmed (at least to my knowledge) that the 3TB drive support issue was resolved in the latest firmware. NTFS and EXT are supported in the dune but not sure if 3TB support is limited to one or the other. If you use some form of network attached storage it will read whatever the NAS supports. Limitations would only matter for drives connected directly to the Dune.
2. I use Zapptit and am happy with it. There are 4 or 5 options out there, check them all out (My Movies, Zappiti, Yadis, Movienizer, and I think a beta flash driven program (can't remember the name).. Some free some pay for.
3. Don't know
4. Zapptii works from an SD card or USB stick, but still need a pc to setup and run updates. Not needed for everyday use.
5. I don't think so, but if you need a large number of multiple drives I would go with some form of NAS, WHS or similar, may cost a couple bucks more on the front end, but generally can offer much larger capacities without multiple external case, not to mention most will offer some form of hardware fault protection.
6. My Harmony works fine.
