Here's a question for discussion which will affect those wishing to use a scaler. I've had annoying issues with video loss whenever anything other than 1080p 60Hz is fed to my Lumagen Mini3D - which isn't ideal for 24Hz film.
Why does the Dune H1 not change the framerate automatically when a bd iso rip loads up and starts playing?
For example, if you load a disc into a standalone bd player and see the projector/tv settings, it will start at 1080p 50 or 60Hz. As the disc loads up the main menu, this will change automatically to 1080p 24Hz and stays so during movie playback for film (for documentaries and concerts, often resolution is set to 1080i 60).
In the case of the Dune video setting HDMI (EDID) stays at 1080p 60 and remains so during movie playback (well it does for me anyway). I have to set the video resolution to 1080p 23.97 at the beginning to ensure that my movies all play at the correct resolution and framerate.
Is it something to do with copyright issues and HDMI signals playing bd iso rips as opposed to actual discs??? This phenomenon does not exist with systems such as Kaleidescape (which relies on a "jukebox" containing the actual original discs to play the ripped files).
During discussion with a member on avforums (UK), it was suggested that this may have something to do with changing the "DVD Engine" setting.
Any ideas? Is there a fix for this? I've tried registering on Dune forms twice and still not received any email to access customer support.
