This way, the Dune "sees" an HD lossless audio capable source, and it works fine at that point.

Plugged the Dune directly to the Denon, powered on and bam, 7.1 channel direct sound.
Plugged it back in to the matrix, all other TVs powered off and right back to 2 channel downmix.
So much for sharing the Dune with my 4 viewing areas. I guess I'll just plan to use it in the 3 areas with stereo only TV sound. This will speed my incorporation of my HTPC for viewing in my theater.
Thanks for all the help everyone. Love the AVS community.
I am considering the purchase of a Dune HD Smart D1 (primarily for the MyMovies integration), and have a similar setup with a 4x4 HDMI Matrix switch from Monoprice. Your posts raise a couple of questions in my mind:
isisyodin: What brand / model of switch do you have? How many inputs/outputs? Is it a matrix switch?
SeldomSeen31: What brand / model of switch do you have? Are you sure it is a matrix switch?A related problem?
I currently have a Netgear NEO TV550, and have had issues with sending bitstream audio to my family room system; I can only get 2.0 PCM. In the past, I had a non-matrix HDMI switch, and the problem went away when I installed the 4 x 4 HDMI matrix switch from Monoprice. As I understand it, a non-matrix switch looks for the lowest common denomitator for audio and video quality accepted by all connected output devices (AVR's & TV's), and tells the source to send that out to all outputs. As I understand it, this does not occur with a matrix switch, as each connected output device (AVR or TV) has its own signal path from the source.
However, the inability to send bitstream audio is occurring again with the NEO TV550 and my current 4 x 4 matrix switch from Monoprice. I do not know for how long this has been occurring, as the kids watch movies on the NEOTV550 most of the time. I did replace the AVR in the family room several months ago, and I thought I checked on this issue, but maybe I did not. I do have an HDMI TV connected to my AVR in the family room, so am now wondering if the AVR is sending the EDID of the TV (2.0 PCM) to the NEOTV550 instead of the EDID of the AVR (DD/DTS bitstream, etc.). The only problem with my theory is that I am able to send DD bitstream from a Moxi DVR through the 4 x 4 Matrix switch to the AVR in the family room.
Perhaps this is an indication the NEO TV550 is not reading the EDID? I have a Lumagen Radiance XS3D in the mix, so I could test this by setting up a user EDID to force only bitstream audio from the sources. See attached diagram of my setup. The Dune would simply replace the NEO TV550, but I need to be able to reliably send bitstream audio from the Dune.
Thanks for any input.
