Hi guys,

just one quick question:

does the Dune Smart series still crash when choosing the 4:2:2 colorspace?

Thanks!

If you are referring to 4:2:2 mpeg2 satellite feeds, then yes, crashes big time. But so do most players (WD has one or two that seem to work).

What is this new information about all plugins now have to be signed by DUNEHD before being loaded onto a dune? And seems they are coming up with there own apps market to compete with PCH,

translated using google translate.

"revised flash plugin still will not put! service makes their customers after the purchase of slaves which consoles will not be able to go to other suppliers as IPTV box is not cheap and will have to sit at the picture you want to or not! ban would know me, and the message soon removed, but I expressed my opinion! Manufacturer Dune HD consoles released in a new software update, which closes the open issues related to the safety and performance of your equipment. One of them, for example, is the ability to break-in and disabling console outsiders. Now it is completely excluded. We, as a leading provider of IPTV services, interested primarily in the fact that all of our customers who purchased the items on our website and through our dealers to view KartinaTV been protected in the first place. Unfortunately, the solution to this problem requires testing applications installed by the manufacturer . Now all of the plugins that are installed on the client wants his console, should receive additional testing Dune HD. All applications are now analyzed for the presence of malicious code. This problem is temporary. As we know, Dune HD is now working on the new software, which will allow to install all tested applications over the Internet. In order to avoid this inconvenience by using set-top box. We believe that this problem be solved in the near future. Please be patient and we apologize for any inconvenience. "

I dont know much about plugins on the dune does this block DSF files now for like the audio work around. Or is this more of they are going to an app market and want all the apps inside the apps market?

tbh I can't understand fully your google translated part...is it translated from russian ?

I guess this is something related to the future dune hd portal which will be like an app market. so it would be logical for any app on this market to be validated by dune he before being released (as the portal would be under their legal resposability)
But that would also mean no side loading of any user apps as well if im following it right.
Your translated part is too unclear about that to be sure about it (the iptv part)

Make your life so much easier. Get eac3to command line, mkvMerge and life will be better. You will argue with me and say that MakeMKV is fine but trust me. Nothing good comes from that bloated and possibly evil software.
eac3to (command line)+mkvMerge with over 130TB cannot be wrong....not a single issue.
EDITED- I quoted the wrong person... not directed at Damian.

No offense taken. I did not write the application.

MakeMKV though worked for me. I have been able to create MKVs with HiDef audio. The wierd thing though is MKV+LPCM generated by MakeMKV will work on my Dune but will not work on my Oppo. The opposite is true with MKV+FLAC.

I will give eac3to (command line) + mkvmerge a shot.

Thanks.

Can you confirm, you are using MakeMKV to create a PCM track ( I don't see an option anywhere to do that)
Do you guys know if the current firmware's limitation with LPCM HD audio is also present in older firmwares?
(I haven't upgraded in a while, still using the firmware from this past January.)

Sorry, I misstated that. What I meant is copy the original LPCM. No conversion from any audio codec to LPCM.

I believe it was removed in the second half of 2011 so if you are January 2012 firmware you likely don't have LPCM decoding.

I'm sure this has been covered already but i searched and found nothing and unfortunately i've been absent from AVS for a while.

Anyone know how to remove the Accuweather/Facebook/Games/Twitter/Youtube icons from the main menu on the Dune? These appeared with a recent firmware upgrade and i cannot figure out how to remove them.

I'll be really upset if they cannot be removed. They really interfere with my menu experience and i dont need them or use them.

Thanks.

That is where I don't follow as most Blurays don't have a PCM track, so how are you getting all your Blurays with PCM

OK, thanks for the info. I am currently bitstreaming, but was curious about the extent of the LPCM decoding limitation.

Is there any option in the Dune Smart D1 to stream/watch TV Stations or TV Content online?

I've never had to look at this before so I'm not very knowledgeable about this matter; I keep hearing about people who don't use Cable TV anymore and watch TV Online (Free). We've always had Comcast, but we're about to move to another part of the country shortly so we decided to cancel the cable subscription (Amongst other things) as we're trying to wind down & wrap up here.

I do have Internet; and have the Dune Smart D1. Any tv streaming options available to me?

Thanks.

The Dune will work with PlayOn running on a windows pc on the same network. Take a look at this:

after a few years of flawless bd iso playback, i finally started ripping my dvd's into iso using anydvd and clonedvd2. im having issues with most of my dvd playbacks when rewinding. it seems that every time i rewind a dvd iso, i get lip sync for the remainder of the movie. no such issue with bd iso's. im on older firmware 110606_1315 because it works perfectly and i have no desire to "upgrade". anyway, is this dvd rewind thing a bug that is fixed in later firmware versions? anyone else experiencing this bug? i could have sworn i remember reading about this a couple of years ago.

Curious as to why you're using CloneDVD at all, since AnyDVD rips nicely to ISO. Point being that CloneDVD might be doing something that's causing this.

Just picked up a Dune Smart B1 to add to the collection (D1 and BD Prime)

clonedvd allows me to rip the movie only as opposed to the disc with menu's. anydvd only rips the whole disc (minus trailers, etc.)

Cool. I wish their prices would come down.
Why would you pick one up when the new units should be coming out? I was/might go see mike a the Dune booth at CES. I won't be doing setup there this year, working in Utah at the moment for the NSA. But if they had the new units there I was gonna try and pick one up! Have a D1 and a Duo now!!

No reason to think that prices will go down since there is only a limited supply left of the current series

The only new unit(s) will be the Zapp/Base 3D. I don't like the chip with these, the issues with forced subtitles, odds are issues with HD Audio dropouts, seamless branch issues, inability to decode TrueHD, possible DTSMA pass thru not working (or requiring a hack), etc... Basically all the things we love about our current Dunes could be an issue with this new model. I just spoke with the Dune folks yesterday, no reason to believe a true Dune player (what we have come to expect with the current line) will hit in the immediate future.

Well, this sucks. I guess I better start saving so I can buy another Dune Smart Series. I am very happy with my D1. My PCH-A210 has been pretty good too, but I pretty tired of maintaining two different jukeboxes, and lets not talk about the PIA firmware update from PCH that just make things worse. I had to revert back to May 2011 firmware to get everything back to working order.
