I have a good friend who uses yadis (Ivan) but I don't like how his male you choose the movies from that almost blank screen first.

you can't change the main menu. You can change the appearance (font, size, position), but not remove TV series or Movies access.

If you want for example to start right away with teh movie wall, the easiest solution is to create a direct shortcut. Just navigate to the movie wall, then press popup menu and add the wall to the favorites. This will create a shortcut in the dune UI that will bring you directly to the wall (you can do this with any part of yadis you want).

If you think that the main menu is a bit empty and boring, you can use the Red Carpet template which makes it very nice : http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28388&page=2

Has there been any more news when the new players will be available?

I believe in the n ext month or so the Zapp and Base 3D are supposed to be available (exactly where is still a little unclear).
Thank you! Waiting on the base 3D!

So I haven't been following this thread in a while. I got nervous the new Dunes will have cinavia and may not play full disc rips (iso or folders) so I ordered two more D1's and an H1 today which will bring me up to five Dunes. Are there any issues with recently manufactured Dunes and does anyone think I'm overly worried about the new Dunes' capabilities or are my fears correct?
It depends if you want to play full menus or not. If you want full menus you made the right choice, if you don't need it then you could have bought the new base 3D, it will play everything like any dune but only in lite mode, without any menu, and won't have cinavia.

I actually just put together a quick post on the various Dune stuff (site appears to be . Similar to Mr Little Jeans I picked up a B1 recently.

I would just be careful with the upcoming new Dunes that rely on BD Lite as there are some issues (for full BR rip users improper seamless branch support and lack of forced subtitle support (this would affect main movie folks as well), possible HD Audio drops (Sigma only just fixed this in the 8911 chipset), etc...

Here is my post:

http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2013/01/15/dune-hd-news/

I kept some of the news a little vague honestly b/c right now there isn't enough info out there.

One interesting thing to note that I mentioned. We have been discussing here the whole issue with HD audio being downmixed to 2ch stereo and not multi PCM. Well, if you look at the specs of the Zappiti and Base 3D player, it would appear that the ability to decode to multi PCM will be available (at least in particular with the Base 3D specs it would seem to imply that)

Unless there are going to be some features that will be specific to only one player over the other, I can't see anything that stands out of why you would choose one over the other (especially since with upcoming fw for the Dunes you will be able to launch directly into a jukebox at startup)

I have a question about playing a Blu-ray ISO with full menus. I have an HD Max and when I select an ISO, it immediately starts playing the movie with no menus. How do I get the menu to come up first?

I have ripped all of my ISOs using Clown BD and have only removed previews. Does this also take out the menus?

Thanks,
Nick

Good to know. Which tool will provide the full menu without the previews? (if any).

just about this part :

When the specs for the Zappiti player were first released if I recall the audio support was a little vague, with reference to DTSHD being left out. It appears this may have been corrected, and the current specs list support for DTSHD.

There's a little foot note (*) in the specs about DTS/DD HD, this foot note is not in the webpage (I guess this is a typo), but you can find it in the setup guide they just published :

* Coming Soon.

guide is here : http://www.zappiti.com/Download/Zappiti_Player_qsg_lang_EN_FR.pdf

PS : the part about the B1 having problem with newer discs with new encryption method is unfortunately true, and I've been recently unable to play new Fox discs (Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter, Ice Age 4 to name it).

Nick, I have had good luck with AnyDVD. Also, just to be sure check that you don't have "Play (lite)" selected under Setup-Miscellaneous-File Browser-"Enter" button on Blu-ray folder.

DVDFab is able to do almost anything you want (movie only with audio selection, full rip including menus in BDVM or ISO, and more). I don't like the new UI of DVDFab9, but it's still the best ripper IMO (even if quite expensive...)

Thanks. I actually have AnyDVD. I was using Clown BD after reading about it here. I don't know why I was thinking clown used AnyDVD for the un-encyrption. I thought I had read that you had to load another app for the encryption piece. I guess I have some homework to do.

Yeah, saw the * but didn't see the reference when I was writing. So the Zapp has it listed as coming soon but the 3D Base there is no indication that it won't be available at launch this feature? This could be an important differentiation.

I think Clown BD BD Copier would allow you to alter the setup but keep the menus:

Let's say that Dune is advertising some features while the HDLand/zappiti team has some serious doubt it will be implemented, at least for the first batch of players/firmware...That's why they cover themselves and keep it as part of a "future update". May be it will come shortly after launch, may be it will never be there (like for the 101/301). They just protect themselves by being a bit more conservative than Dune (but who reads the foot notes ????)

lol, yeah, that is what I am thinking as well.Honestly you can't justify a $299 player if it cannot even handle HD Audio properly (I guess you could make the exception for downmix, but full HD Audio pass thru should be a given).

I guess my decision to go with MC-FLAC is finally paying off. I am not worried one bit about what HD audio format any of these Dunes handles.

/Sorry for the OT rant.

Is it confirmed that the Base3d price is now £299, if so that puts it at 477.92$ the original £259 seemed high but if it went up again that is a shame

No, USD 299 / EUR 299 (no conversion)

MSRP

USA: 299$
EU: 299 EURO

I thought the original price that Zapp had announced was 259, but figured that wouldn't go over well having two differently priced Base 3D models.

Completely agree, best ripper/converter/creator and about the terrible UI. What were they thinking?!?!
