The Official Marantz SR7005 Receiver Page!! - Page 64

The display can be easily turned on or off via the remote control or via a button located behind the front panel door.

There is always a blue "portal" circle illuminated whenever my AV7005 (and i would assume SR7005) is on. There is no way to get rid of that.

There is no dim option, only off and "auto-off" [changes are illuminated, but then the display turns off leaving only the blue circle, 2 seconds after a command is executed]

It might be worth upgrading to the new AV8801

Correct. However, this is confirmed via note #20 on p. 165.

On page 85 of my SR7005 it says to press and hold the "display" button on the front panel for 3 seconds to turn the illumination on and off....

Yes, that works on the AV7005 too, interesting! Thanks, good to know. [Kinda of scary there is a way to completely kill all front panel indications that the unit is in operation though.]

When will Marantz change the look?

I have updated the latest firmware for AirPlay. My Receiver continues to fail to recognize my apple products. I try to reset the receiver by unplugging it, but that seems like a short term fix. Anybody else having this problem?

Think you mean your Apple products failing to recognize the 7005? See if any of the fixes suggested in the post below work for you ....

Well, I finally pulled the tr......scratch that...purchased my new SR 7005 this morning from Audio Advisor. Good thing I had the number to the sales guy I talked with last week. He was able to honor last weeks price, free shipping and double boxed. It is 300.00 more today. Anyway, looking forward to getting it unpacked and up and running by mid week next week. Cheers!

So I spoke to the tech guy at Marantz and he "fIOS is aware of this problem and I need to Disable IGMP Proxy" however since I have a new Actiontec router with new software he couldn't point me to the correct menu to disable it. FIOS tech was useless. Tech never heard of AirPlay or had any usefull knowledge of the new router. I tried to look into the advanced menus to no avail. Anybody else having this problem? Thx

Got hold of one of these recently and had a question about the Airplay upgrade. I was able to update the firmware, but when I go to the Add New Feature section it says something like Not Registered and the Airplay upgrade is grayed out/not selectable. There's an ID number there, what am I supposed to do with that?

Thanks cool.gif

Call or e-mail Marantz support and give them the number. They will then enable your receiver to make the upgrade. With the weekend here you may have to wait til Monday. If by e-mail they will respond when you can do it. That could take a few days.

JD, thx for link. My problem is i need to disable the IMPG proxy. Since I have the latest Actiontec router and software neither the Marantz tech nor the FIOS tech knew how to get to that menu/feature. They both knew how to do it on the older model wiih older software...Larry
post #1909 of 2162
So then you're saying the Actiontec/IGMP directions I provide in that link are not the same? If yes, I would imagine they should be fairly easy to locate if you just hunt around in the setup menu.
Yes thats what im saying. The FIOS tech couldnt find it either. Screen Shot 2013-01-26 at 12.58.09 PM.png 121k .png file

Googling the Actiontec router quickly brought up the following setting changes, either of which you should be able to set on your router as noted in the image below ...

Thanks. I'm not able to call during those business hours, hope e-mail will work. Or do you actually have to be on the phone with them to do/start the upgrade procedure?

Thanks again cool.gif

I did it by e-mail. Took them 3 days to respond. I was in no big hurry. I remember another person got a response the following day by e-mail so YMMV.

Thanks. I was asking because the pic didn't mention email. I'm in no rush either so email should do.

I am sincerely hoping Marantz will NOT change the porthole design. I love "the look" and, I actually think the ring light is a bit too dim. If Marantz were reading this I would request they make the porthole ring light a 3-step brightness selection. My (matching) Panamax M5400-PM Voltage Regulator is adjustable by 5 steps for its display. When I purchased my SR7005 I couldn't resist the idea of pairing it with the Panamax after I saw it in the Magnolia store.

New SR 7005 owner here! I am just setting it up for the first time, and am searching and reading for setup answers, but i figure if i post here but the time i find it someone here might already answer the question.

I will have 5 speakers in my main room, no sub, so FRC, and then 2 surrounds.

I also want to run 2 speakers to use downstairs as zone 2 speakers, that i can either have play along with the main setup, or on it''s own instead of the main room.

Which label slots would i want to wire the zone 2 speakers into? And which slots would i want to use for my main room surrounds?

My speakers are all Pioneer: FS51's (front), BS41's (surround), SPC21 (center), BS51's (zone 2)

Thanks so much for any help!
With a 5.0/5.1 setup, the surrounds are considered "side" surrounds and therefore are wired to the "Surround" speaker posts while the "rear" surrounds or Zone 2 speakers would be wired to the "Surr Back/Amp Assign" speaker posts with the AMP ASSIGN setting set to Zone 2. Note that HDMI audio will not pass to Zone 2 so you'll need to also connect an analog RCA cable or optical/coax digital cable from any sources you want to pass to Zone 2 (in addition to the HDMI being used for the main zone audio).
thanks for the quick reply!

That is unfortunate about the HDMI output. my main source for music will be through an Apple TV, or similar device, and it only has HDMI. Is there any other option to wire those that would allow the audio to pass from HDMI to all 7 speakers, with just using HDMI? I don't mind if i can't use as a zone 2 style system so that's fine if it's all or nothing. But i would prefer to have 2ch sound from those downstairs speakers, if possible
post #1919 of 2162
The Apple TV also has an optical output which can be connected to the AVR and will pass to Zone 2 (a feature that has been dropped on the new 7007 model). Another option would be to set the AMP ASSIGN setting to SPKR-C, the Zone 2 speakers will get the same audio (HDMI or otherwise) as the FL/FR speakers and play at the same volume as the FL/FR speakers. So then SPKR-C accompishes your goal with the limitation of no independent source/volume control.

Thanks JD,

So now i have the downstairs wired to Surr. Back/Amp Assign, and it's working!

Right now I am running multi stereo mode. I am wondering if you recommend playing in a specific mode so that the upstairs 5 (well, 3 right now), and the downstairs 2 would both SEPARATELY be playing in full stereo sound, and might not lose pieces of the audio because they are meant to be acting in conjunction with the rest of the system?
