Can somebody help point me to the threads which talk about how to "wire" the 42LD550 for both OTA and Comcast Cable so that the channels are configured correctly and I can switch between the two sources. My head is spinning after reading all these threads and everytime I try to search I never get to the right threads. Pretty sure a solution has been posted somewhere in here.

I just got my 42LD550 from Costco. Sitting in the box as I try to read all the threads and get my "plan" together before I fire her up.

Thanks in advance!

Dang. My soundbar doesn't have a remote. It's analog and I got a converter.... Well I can at least control the cable audio with the box for the remote.

Now what are you buying? Any hints? What's in that 'Zon cart now?

Hi,

Just bought an LG 42ld550. I have been in the market off and on for a few years (I'm a late adopter. very late) and only recently became serious. I have been trying to decide between the samsung ln40c630 and the 46 and at the last minute landed on this thread (randomly). 80+ pages late I was convinced. Phase and others should get a commission on every tv sold b/c of the info on this thread! Thanks for the great information. I am very happy with this tv.

Anyway, the tv arrived last friday. I connected the tv to my router with a cat 5 cable I set up/activated my netflix. but, for some reason every time I try to run netflix it asks me to reactivate the account. I don't think it did this every time the first few days but has been consistent the last couple of days. The tv did find and install the latest firmware. Has anyone else had this issue? Also, I have noticed some lip sync issues with netflix. I have fios that clocks in between 12-15mb speed. Thanks in advance.

Hello and glad to hear from another new owner. Which firmware version is currently in the TV? You can find out by pressing the Menu key, then the Red button. Also, there may be an issue with your NetFlix activation code. Sometime back, someone had a similar issue and had to call Netflix with activation info. But let's start with the firmware versions and then go from there.

I need one more blu ray (2011s in the cart) and a speaker or two. Found a nice sound bar that would be great for the bedroom, but that should be a father's day gift-lol.

Thanks, phase. The software is 8.2.16. Netflix accepts every activation code lg gives everytime. It's just that every time I turn the tv in it has me reactivate the account.

I understand. So you have the latest firmware. You could try an initial reste, but then you would loose all your settings and preferences. I guess I would call NetFlix and/or LG. As I mentioned, there were some owners with a similar issue earlier on. All I heard back from the troubled parties was that it got resolved.

How about other NetFlix users here? I do mostly HuLu through my HTPC, but I think sheshechic used to do NetFlix. You could PM her. There are others who do Netflix also. Hopefully they might pop in. Otherwise you can use the search thread tool at the top right of the page, and also search AVS for "repeated NetFlix Activation. This seems to come up now and again with NetFlix accounts and some devices that support it.

How do I save the Calibration settings? I change it to be user settings and when I turn my TV off and turn it back on later my settings change.
I use Netflix. I upgraded to the newest software and I am fine... But I did do the software update before registering netflix. I would call LG
post #2957 of 5070
I recently changed my router and had to re-register both Rokus and so I just checked the 550. It ran just like normal.

One suggestion is to unregister it from Netflix and then register it again. I've read on that this has worked for others on different boards. Please let us know what works.

Thinking about it, I think that I'd unregister tonight and not register it again until tomorrow night or later. Give Netflix time to flush those pipes.

This is curious because you are the second person who has mentioned this. The only way I know that can happen is if the normal Expert1 And Expert2 have been enabled to ISF Day and ISF Night. Are these the Picture Modes you are making your entries to? Or if you accidentally press thee "Apply To All Inputs" button in some other setting.

Well, well... I just plugged in csamos' numbers and did a quick comparison with Phase's settings. Backlight, contrast and brightness were the same for this test (25/87/55).

Turns out the differences are fairly subtle. Csamos' blues and greens were a bit more pronounced, a bit more vibrant and slightly brighter. I did not notice much difference in the reds.

I'll look at it some more when I get a chance. The quick test made me realize, though, that my brightness is too high at 55. I'll have to find a lower number without losing too much detail.

All of this new calibration stuff is getting me brain-achy. I like what I have now but listening to the discussions on the newly posted settings have me wondering again if I can make mine a bit better. I have my backlight/contrast/brightness set at 45/87/53 with the rest of settings at what I recently posted for ISF Expert 1 OTA warm.

I'm in the same boat. I'm streaming 1080 via cat6 wired and it KILLING ME to hear the audio only through the Tv speakers. I only have a 3.1 with good Polks but still. I have an older Sony receiver with no digital input.

deciding on a used receiver or these

I'll stand by my settings. They look fine on my TV for OTA, HDMI, and the HDMI computer settings for my ATI graphics source.

@ Henry

Let's see, I do believe my initial backlight setting was 26 before starting to use Energy Saving for light reduction. As far as the settings from csamos, I see the blue and green "pronouncement". It seems to affect flesh tones on my TV and makes them a bit lavender. There is more at work here than charts and graphs. Have a good night everyone. It's 10PM, news time and snooze time.
And your settings are fantastic . My backlight is set at 65, by the way, for all inputs. That gives me four distinct settings for all lighting conditions when using the energy saver.

Otto, I wouldn't worry too much. The only thing better at this point would be a professional calibration for our individual sets. For most of us that is simply not an option, considering what we paid for our TVs
post #2969 of 5070
Hey folks great thread. I've been digging and if I'm correct the 46ld550 could have an IPS panel? I'm not sure if the model does not use it at all or if it's the luck of the draw.

Trying to bump up from the 42 to the 46 but want to be sure. If not, do i lose much with a non ips? i read angled viewing is less for one. also are we speaking of the 42's using the newer H, E or P-IPS or just the S-IPS in these?

When you turn your set on, is it on the same input every time?
