I have a 42LD550 hooked up via HDMI to my DirecTV receiver. Whenever I turn it on, it will flash between the picture and black for about a minute straight. Almost like it's "warming up". Once that process is completed, there are zero problems.
Is this common? Is there a fix?
Hello. No problem with asking. This is a pretty specific question
Usually, if the screen goes black and then comes back in and on-off-on pattern it is because of a momentary communication issue over the HDMI interface connection. It can be due to a bad cable, poor connector on either end of the cable, or even a bad port on either the TV or the satellite box. If you have another cable try that first. If not, try using a different HDMI port on the TV and see if it stops the issue. The connector ports on the LG TV are easily damaged if a heavy HDMI cable is pulling down on the socket it is plugged into. It can fracture the solder joints for the connector to the circuit board or even break or weaken connection pins.
So try a differnt port and another known good cable or swap a cable with your Blu-ray player or other divice.
And please let us know if you find anything or it changes by using the above hints.
