Where are the mods?

Thread Starter
Isn't the posting of "DVDrips" against the law or at least against forum rules?

please use the report post button: mods will respond

Relax...I'm sure the spammer (and associated spam) will be removed shortly.

I am under the impression the mods are volunteers (my guess) who eat, sleep, and have lives outside of AVS and don't just sit there pressing refresh constantly, which is why you don't see the insta-banning that one would expect from a 24/7 paid operation.

That is my impression anyways.

Actually, we get paid EXTREMELY well. So well, in fact, that we're usually busy out and about spending $$$ instead of reading every new post.

Doing your bit to resuscitate the economy, eh Lar? Such selflessness is admirable indeed. Me, I'm avoiding spending money on anything I can't eat or take shelter under. Just trying to ride it out...

I knew all that ad revenue would allow the mods to afford a solid gold blender.

You and me both. Good luck. Just think of the hullabaloo we'd have here nowadays if AVS had an OT forum..... (and for those who haven't been around for that long - an OT forum will NEVER happen.)

Isn't there an open forum for Gold Club members? As I recall, when the program was initiated, that was a perk. I've always thought of the Gold membership as the Skull & Bones of AVS.

If there was, and my posts couldn't be deleted, I would buy the Gold....

As mods we can go into the "Gold Club Coffee House" forum. It's not what you call "lively". I hadn't been there in a while and just looked; there's a current thread and I counted 12 Gold Club members posting - most I can remember seeing. I don't know what David or Alan would do if more members ponied up the $$$ and then started threads on current topics that have some people nowadays about to pop a gasket.

That spammer is seriously annoying and shows up on other fora as well.

But there was once an OT forum, no? If I'm remembering correctly, it was quite short-lived; I never even got a chance to view it. I remember a bit of post fall-out..

IMO, AVS doesn't need a Current Affairs forum or non-AV related forum.

But I do have an idea or two regarding AVS....if you're interesting in hearing, I'll PM ya.

There was a 911/War forum for a while. I figure they knew they'd never keep discussions of that from happening, so they put it all in one place that could just be destroyed later. That was a fun forum for a while. I had someone threaten me with physical violence in that forum, as did some other folks, because I insisted on taking every situation on its own merits and not just doing the my side, right or wrong, thing. One was so bad that I think that the FBI was involved.

So, that's the kind of fun were are missing.

Ah yes, the Iraqi War forum; remember it well. Short-lived experiment in seeing if the children could play nice. Many of them couldn't, and that was the end of that. It was kind of like the wild-west of the home-theater frontier, raw and uncensored. And ultimately, doomed.

PM Mike Lang if you have some ideas for AVS.

Ah, the days when four letter words were allowed on AVS.

Some of us were proven to be correct - there was never any doubt - while others continue to be in denial.

I was referring to the infamous "911/Iraq" forum. It came and went so fast, I never got a chance to see it at all.

Now we got +1, a five letter word. Similar to Spinal Tap, and turning it up to 11.
