2 dead pixels, return or keep?

So I've had this 50" LG Pk550 for ~29 days (return policy with the retailer is 30), and in the last week I've noticed 2 dead pixels. I've been hoping they would disappear over time, but they havn't.

They aren't completely dead. One in the upper middle is blue-dead, but shows other colors fine, and the other in the middle right is red-dead but shows other colors fine.

Under normal viewing it's very hard to notice (but possible), but it's dead obvious whenever a pure blue/red color goes across the screen (i.e. cartoons, break-in slides, etc).

So should I go through with the hassle of returning or not?

I would try to return it. The same thing happened to me with a Pansonic s1. I spoke to two different people at panasonic. First person said they would not replace it since 2 dead pixels doesn't qualify under their warranty. I tryied again, spoke to a different person, who had me send pictures and then they issued a credit to the store where I bought it for a replacement. If you're unable to return it I don't think it's a huge deal. Afterall, two dead pixels aren't all that noticible, especially with regular viewing material.

Return it now or forever have your peace

I was told it was a no questions asked 30 day return, so I wouldn't expect any trouble ...

Or ask for some cash back, as its now a open box, your choice. If you got the time go for it.

interesting, i have the same situation (G25, 2 pixels dead for certain colors) and besides looking inches away while using color slides, I cannot notice them 8ft away with normal viewing. I can clearly tell the difference between 1366x768 and 1080p, but yet I cannot see 2 dead pixels.

Does it really affect your viewing that much?? Or just in your mind you know you have 2 "dead" pixels?

So you return the set, what if the new one has 4 "dead" pixels?? What if it buzzes? What if it has some other bigger issue? Is it worth returning over 2 dead pixels for potentially worse issues? Sure, you could get lucky, also, and get a perfect panel as a replacement. Unfortunately, that not a chance I'd take with todays QC TV issues...

I would return it to a retail store, because this is the main reason for paying more plus tax is dead pxels. Etailers are mostly cheaper, but their dead pixel return policy is a joke. I buy all my monitors large and small locally just for that reason, I hate to have dead pixels.

Since I am returning & repurchasing the 30 day period resets. So if there is another issue I'll just go through the process again.

Then I say go for it. If you don't mind the wait time, get the set you paid for.
