'Nikita' on The CW HD - Page 13

Anybody else think the writing for this show has really declined this season? Nikita use to be one of my favorite shows but this season its really gone down hill. First it moved to Friday nights but now it's back to Thursday, from what I've seen of the ratings I just don't feel it's long for this world. To me a major turning point is when they lost Percy, he seemed to be the glue that held it together. I hope they can turn it around and I'm not dropping out just yet but for me it's on the bubble. BTW of 2 people that I know who use to be big Nikita fans one has stopped watching and the other seems to be on the bubble like me, how do AVS'er feel?

It's been pretty clear that this was going to be the last season. I don't know if there has been an official announcement, but the show has about run its course and the ratings have gotten really dismal. It's hasn't been the same show since they got rid of Percy and Amanda went on the run and became a "recurring" character instead of a regular. They needed that stability in the villain department. It's over, but it had a good run.

The instances where Amanda pops up are bright spots in an otherwise mediocre season, but I'm still thankful to get a little more time to spend with the characters. I think Nikita is a poster child for the way the ratings game can destroy a show. They didn't expect to get renewed after season 2, so in the interest of giving fans closure, they killed Percy much earlier than they should have. On the offchance that they got renewed, they opened another plot line of Nikita running Division. The renewal was a surprise, so they got stuck having to go with a premise that couldn't work as well as the original one did. If the show's status had been announced in a timely manner, the writers could have either killed Percy and wrapped the show properly or left him alive to make the third season not suck. Instead, we're left with this.

My biggest question is whether Nikita is still on for all 22 of its season 3 episodes. Only six of 22 have aired, and it's already on its midseason hiatus, compared with ten of The Vampire Diaries' 23 episodes having aired. I'll be even more disappointed if Nikita's gotten reduced to 13 episodes for its last season and the writers don't have time to finish it properly.

Like so many shows that make these sort of changes, this one has run its course and is on life support.  I'm staying out of previous commitment, but I won't regret the end when it comes.  I do prefer this to cutting them off short like so many others - I guess my preference becomes seeing a decent show lose interest but have an ending, vs. an exciting/interesting show stopped mid-story with no resolution whatever. 

Yeah, I understand it's time has come, I'm fine with it, and I'm in it with Nikita & Michael until the bitter end. We've come this far, I'm not abandoning them now.

At least this show is still fun, albeit not as much fun as it was. Wish I could say the same about another long-time guilty pleasure: 'Burn Notice'. I'm still watching that one out of a similar irrational sense of obligation, but feel like the end can't come soon enough for that Michael & company.

Take for instance this so called midseason hiatus cliff hanger. I say so called because other than the fact that they said the next show wouldn't be until mid January I would have never known. Compare this to season 1 or 2 where the show before the midseason break was better than most season finale cliff hangers. I can't remember if it was season 1 or 2 midseason but it was so riveting I was sitting on the edge of my chair and was totally immersed in the show, I'm sure my heart was beating faster and I may have even been sweating it was that good.
I'll also be with it until the end but I not looking forward to the next shows as I once did. A while back I purchased season 1 and 2 on BD(great price and I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks in 1080p, without broadcast bitstarving), if I ever get a chance to watch them it will be nice to see how the show was at one time

I think that goes back to my point about how far the season is from the middle. I doubt this was supposed to be the mid-season finale, since it's only episode six. If episode ten has a great cliffhanger, you'll know that it was originally supposed to be airing around this time.

This show is not the same without Percy. Now it's just a bunch of pretty girls in tight skirts playing rough guys. I am done watching it.

Although I agree that there's not much reason to stick with Nikita these days, beyond the presence of Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca, I confess that they are enough for me. Although I won't weep bitter tears when the show is cancelled, I plan to stick with it until then.

I agree but like Gwsat the two leads are enough to keep me somewhat interested. Too bad, at one time Nikita was my most looked forward to show, now it's just, eh....
New episode this week, hope it's better than the so called mid season cliff hanger

I've watched 'Nikita' since its premiere, still enjoy it, and I can say that it has certainly aged better than my other "guilty pleasure" - 'Burn Notice' - which is virtually unwatchable now. Unfortunately, enough slack-jawed USA Network viewers are still mindlessly tuning in to 'Burn Notice' that it's going to limp into yet another formulaic and derivative season while the far superior 'Nikita' is bowing out while it's still got some gas left in the tank. What's that ol' show business expression? Leave 'em wanting more? And for petesake, don't overstay your welcome. The producers of 'Burn Notice' apparently haven't gotten that message.

Yep, Nikita is a very tough girl who will not hesitate to do whatever needs to be done, no matter how, er, messy.

This wee was pretty good. You have to love the characters, and how they are working together. I thought the opening bit was plausably real, which freaked me out. I thought Alex's problem is very realistic. You have to love Michael in this episode: "Make like a good spy and KISS HER!" Give the guy a hand for his performance.

I *DO* miss Percy though. The show just hasn't been the same since his death.

I haven't posted about shows in a long time. thought I'd do some catch up on a few of my favorites. I do miss Percy but Amanda is proving to be more wacko than he.

I presume this is the last season? has that been confirmed?

I'm pretty sure it's the last season, unfortunately, based on the numbers and the simple fact that a long-running show gets more expensive as it goes along. But they're going to go out in a fearless manner, no? Poor Nikita! Poor Michael!!

And poor Amanda.

I agree that Amanda really doesn't measure up to Percy. Despite being a monster, Percy was funny and charming, too. Amanda, though, is just a monster, the evil bitch goddess from central casting.

I don't think it has been confirmed. But since we weren't even sure there was going to be a season 3, we can assume it might be the last season. The last 2 episodes have been really good. With Amanda back the dynamics have changed quite a bit and it's all for the better. It's much more edgier now I love it. Poor Michael indeed!! At least he's still alive though ; for a moment I thought he wouldn't make it. I agree with the other comments Percy was funnier than Amanda but what I like about them both is that in their own way, they do care for Nikita. This strange relationship between them kinda reminds me of the Joker and Batman... "I don't want to kill you - you, you complete me!"

This episode restored my respect for the show and demonstrated that it can be engaging without Percy, even if the episode would have been that much better with him in it. So far the CW hasn't announced whether Nikita will be returning; its ratings did improve when it moved back to its old timeslot, but that probably won't be enough.

The main difference between Percy and Amanda to me is their different levels of emotionality; Percy was almost always cold, calculating, and reserved, so whenever he actually showed any anger over Nikita's attempts to thwart his plans, his outbursts were always to great effect. Amanda is constantly emotional and slightly over-the-top about it, which makes her closer to a supervillian caricature and less effective at embodying the attributes of Division that Nikita has been trying to overcome.

Even so, if they can maintain the level of emotion present in last week's episode, Amanda may yet prove a worthy successor as the "big bad" of the show, even if the qualities she brings to the role differ from those Percy possessed. I doubt the stakes will be as high for the next few episodes as they were for the midseason premiere, though. I just hope they don't go right back into the whole "Dirty Thirty" thing right away, as that felt too much like filler.

I've looked at the ratings and they are significantly higher than expected... I guess that's good news for a potential 4th season! fingers crossed...

Last week's episode was once again very good - it's so cool when Amanda's here! ...Having seen the preview for this week, I think we're in for a treat!

I'm not sure how I'd feel about a fourth season. I'd rather that the show end on a high note than limp along, but it seems like half way through the season the writers are finally figuring out how to make things interesting without Percy. It's still sad to think about how much better it would have been with him around, though, which puts a damper on everything.

I haven't watched since Nikita chopped Michaels hand off. I have them on my DVR, just kinda lost interest. Still worth it?

I guess it's still worth watching if you don't mind the violence, he said offhandedly.

I've missed Ari, so last week's episode was fun. This week's looks even more promising.

Ari and Amanda usually makes for a pretty good episode. I miss Percy too, but those two are conniving and malevolent enough to keep things interesting.

Oh and about the second photo of replayrob's, reminded me of a recent SNL skit where 3 gunmen held guns at each other all the time while doing all kinds of other things......on Nikita both shooters answered and had cell phone calls all while keeping their gun at the ready
Not sure but I think SNL was spoofing a movie, just not sure which one or ones......
