3D software upgrade for Sony STR-DH810 receiver

Sony has released a software update for the STR-DH810 that will make it support 3D features. I'm curious if anyone has installed it and whether or not there were any negative side effects?

I'm thinking about upgrading mine not for the 3D support, but to see if it helps with the audio dropouts from my local Fox TV station I've been having for the last 2 weeks.

Anyone have any feedback?

I just did this about 10 minutes ago. Do not have 3D yet, plan to in the future. Everything I use the 810 for seems o be working ok. Ended up with version 1.102.

Did all your settings remain, or did they get reset to factory out of the box settings? I'm talking about speaker distance, size, etc.

Going through the speaker levels, size and the speaker distances the settings remained in tacked. Have not gone through every setting, but i am ASSuMEing the rest are ok also.
Follow the instructions carefully and it is pretty easy to upgrade. I have never had a problem with sound with this unit. I hope this fixes your problem.

Crap! Just realized I can't do the upgrade as my Sony DVD player only has coax audio out and not optical. This is another reason to get a Blu Ray player!!! Arg...

Do you have any cd player with optical out? Does not have to be a dvd or movie player.
Maybe you can borrow from your neighbor. Do you have an xbox 360? That'll work. Just trying to think of different options.

Actually I discovered my DVD player does have optical out - I've just always used the coax out. I don't have a spare optical cable so I'll have to borrow one hooked up to something else. Not sure when I'll get to it now. But at least I can do it.

Just installed the upgrade. Everything went smooth. No to see (or listen as it were) if this helps with my Fox OTA dropouts.

One channel has audio dropout? I would be shocked if the receiver update fixed this problem......

I moved my rear speakers and started to have a drop out on the right rear channel. I found out it was the wire connection to the rear of the receiver. I have the wires connected by the screws on the back, not by banana clips. If the wire does not sit right when you screw the wire tight it may be a partial connection. I undid the wire and rescrewed it tight and all seems well.

It worked great, just make sure you follow instructions. I burned the software at 44x and had to go back and do it at 4x. My kit will not be here until Tuesday (I hope)...will get back to you after that and thanks for the update information.

Went out and bought a panasonic 3d player DMP-BDT-100. Sale at frys electronics. (at store) Also bought mits 3D-1000 kit (sale again at store) both iems bought around 30% off. Did this: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1280874 to my samsung tv. Hooked up to my Sony STR-DH810 avr and all works great with 3d. So firmware upgrade seems to be as advertised, 3d working with sony avr.

im trying to understand the difference between the two models, if the 810 now fully support 3D with a software update, what IS the difference then??

Does anyone have the directions on how to perform the firmware update? I can find a zip file with two wav files in it, but no direction on what to do with them. I seem to remember reading something a while back about burning them to cd and playing them through the receiver, but I can't remember if I need to do anything special, and if I can use my HTPC to play the CD.
