Found this in the <$3000 forum:

Great news for the budget challenged. Now there will be two companies offering projectors w/automated AR switching that should street under $4000. Hope JVC follows suit.

This is a good sign that major manufacturers believe there's a growing demand for CIH solutions.

In the low end yes. Remember thought most who go into the higher priced stuff get lenses anyways, so it is less likely going to be seen in that level of projector...

Sure, it's not my expectation that JVC will join in, but one can always hope .

Actually, since this new Epson will be LCOS and will use a Fujinon lens (same company that made the lenses for the RS1 and 2), could it not be considered a JVC-lite? Perhaps a serious competitor to JVC's RS15 followup. Should be a very interesting comparison.

Personally I'm more interested to know if they offer the vertical scaling needed to use a lens.

They do. There was a picture of R4000 from IFA with an A-lens attached.

I am thrilled about the lens memory and motorized zoom/focus and *shift*. I think
the R2000 is my next projector.

very cool to see this and I also hope JVC will offer this, but I guess that is not likely. Very curious to hear more on these Epson units though.

It all comes down to how it performs. JVC has been doing it for a long time so I suspect they will have a leg up on performance, even if fewer features. We'll have to see though.
