You didn't have a RA# before you sent it in?

When I called JVC about the issue originally they told me I did not need one and to just send the unit in since the steps we took over the phone didn't fix it.

I filled out the form the JVC CSR linked me to, with the issue and original receipt, and I mailed it out.

Is there customer service that bad? I planning to get a jvc projector myself but don't want to go through that.

The JVC repair center called me back and it looks like they're working directly with the AV/Science JVC sales rep to get this taken care of. I'll report back when I hear more.

I am going to get a new replacement or refund of the purchase price from what I've been told.
I'm glad they taken care of the problem, for a minute there I thought they going to return it to you without fixing the projector. I glad that they decided to give you a refund. That's the right thing to do.

After all the info I've read on the JVC hd250..I'm convinced that I want to buy one. Who do I buy from? I should specify that purchase may take place in about 2 to 3 months from now. Will there be a better alternative at that time?
Buy it from avsforum store. They should have it. I dont know what jvc have in store for the upcoming cedia though. You might want to wait.
update: AV/Science is shipping me a new one next week. They are dealing with the JVC sales rep and getting me a replacement. JVC is keeping my unrepairable unit so no extra shipping has to be done.

satisfied!

I'm not real familiar with the Sim2 D80 but I have my 250 set up about 16 feet back and also use a 110" 1.5 gain screen. Plenty bright. I think you will be pleased.
Very nice theater you've put together by the way.

No better place for JVC sales than AVScience.

However, your time frame puts you right around CEDIA in mid-September when the new models are announced. I'd certainly wait to see what's announced if you're looking to buy a projector in the next 2-3 months. AVScience often has very good pre-order pricing on the new JVC models.

I'm looking at the JVC HD 250. Some posters on another thread mentioned I may not like how it handles sports motion.

I plan to watch a lot of football on my next projector. Can some posters weigh in on how sports looks on their projector? (I plan on checking out a JVC 550 in person at Magnolia.)

Thanks.

As I said on another thread, I have never had any issue with sports on the HD250. And I've not seen any other owner mention it either.

I agree. I watch more sports than movies. I had the Epson 8500 which has FI and now the 250 that does not have FI. The motion looks very smooth on the 250 with sports. I notice some judder (very minimal) on movies.

No issues watching sports on my 250. I've had it since Oct 2010 and I've watched college footbal, & basketball, & pro football & basketball on it and they've all looked great.

Hi Guys:

I am looking at buying a HD250, I already have a screen I would like to use.

My question is: would a 92" diagonal screen with .9gain put out a bright enough image with the projector mounted approx 13-15' away?

Thanks

Depends on room lighting. I have a total light control theater with a 140" scope screen using this PJ and it is plenty bright on normal lamp mode from
16+ feet away.

The room is 100% dark, I should be good, looking forward to a replacement, currently have a Toshiba MT-800. Hope there is a huge improvement
post #1639 of 1856
Hey Mike,

You should be just fine with the .9 gain. How about the room itself, do you have dark colored walls / ceiling / floor?

45 Hours in, and this thing has been the best fun I've had in a while. I've been playing a lot of playstation (haven't played playstation in 2 years), and COD looks almost real. Not to mention GT5, and Tiger woods 12. The movies are awesome as well. Even SD TV is ok from 10ft away. Overall, couldn't be happier with this purchase.

The room is dark grey, with black curtains along the walls, floor is tan carpet, ceiling is white for now I am looking at painting it flat black.
You should be ok as long as you take care of the ceiling.
You can request some samples of a maybe a 1.3 gain screen to see if you can justify spending money on a new screen.

Anyone else's HD250 arrive in a box with the projector/styrofoam just thumping around inside? When I picked it up from UPS I thought about refusing it as the was something large clearly rolling around in there.

I opened it anyway and it looks like something is missing from the inside of the box, as there is about 3" of space between the styrofoam packaging around the proj and the side of the box :-/ . I'm sure it loved that ride over from China!

Mine arrived exactly as you described. I checked with another owner and there is nothing missing from the box. It seems the size of the box is not the same size from PJ to PJ. My box was obviously bigger than the Styrofoam case and thus was sliding around inside. My UPS man made a comment to me that I had better check this item in here as it seems not to be secure. I purchase mine from AVS and have not had a chance to hook it up and check to make sure nothing was damaged. I already emailed AVS and told them if there are any issues that I want another one.

Been working like crazy so no time for my new toy.

How can you be doing that? You got yours at the same time as mine, and I already have 60 hours or so on mine. You better get to setting it up, you're going to love it when you do.

How do the dla-hd10k compare to this? Way worst?

I have a lumagen radiance so I am wondering if a used 10k maybe a better buy than a new 250?

I'm currently running a Mitsubishi HC5500 that is nearing lamp replacement time. I'm wondering if I should use that as an excuse to buy the JVC HD250. Does anyone here have any experience comparing these two models? Is the JVC and upgrade from the Mits or are they peers? tia

Have you considered the Mitubishi WD-92840 ?

Man that is weird. For such a high quality item you would think they would get a different box, especially since they are probably a couple pennies in China. I have to say that I would rather see these being made in Mexico. I wonder why they choose China over Mexico, I would think production would be easier to control being right over a border.
