Anyone use stoppayingcablebills.com?

I'm looking for an easy internet tv solution for my wife to watch international channels, and the ad for stoppayingcablebills.com looks like it has all the stuff I want for like $17. But when I search for reviews or consumer reports stuff, the only thing I find are obviously faked/trumped up reviews by themselves or an affiliate. It kinda screams scam to me, but I figured I'd see if anyone in the HTPC forums had any info. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this.

Well, out of curiosity only, I decided to take a look and check it out.

I can only ask, do you get a free set of Ginsu knives with your order?

Fair enough...although Ginsu knives would be awesome. It's the crippling adware/credit card theft I'd be worried about. If anyone has alternate suggestions for a streamlined international channel service on an htpc, that would be welcome!

All you really need to do is scroll all the way down and read the fine print. They aggregate freely available Internet TV streams. There are alternatives available:

Hulu
Zinc
PlayOn (not free)
Boxee

I'm sure there are more.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking specifically for something that streams all the mainland chinese stations; I couldn't tell from the websites whether some of those services do or not. I'll definitelty check out Boxee though. The appeal of the stoppayingforcable thing was that it looked simple to setup and use...like I wouldn't have to hunt down all the individual sites and add them. It would be worth 20 bucks to just download something and be done with it (even if they were only providing free streams).

Do not use stoppayingcablebills. this is garbage. they say they guaranty to refund you within 60 days. they will never do it. There are so many internet tv services that are 1000 times better than stoppayincablebills.

OK so what ARE those alternatives?

Well, find all the web sites for the channels you are interested in and see if they offer streaming of their shows or the live channel. Then create a nice bookmark list of those channels in your browser and viola! Free streaming of the content you want.

Also note which ones have RSS feeds which you can then load up into PlayOn or even in MediaBrowser for viewing directly in WMC.

Quite a few international channels are available thru places like Veetle (which is safe actually). But you really have to be careful with any of these services like you found, they are usually nothing more then scams, especially if they are asking for money.

I'd say the best source of info is going to be forums that are dedicated to those channels, like a fan forum or something.

I haven't found but one comment: here it is; if anyone has anything else/more, please forward it on to me/us:

Stoppayingcablebills.com Complaints, Reviews - I downloaded their ...
complaintsboard.com/.../stoppayingcablebillscom- 30, 2011 - Consumer complaints and reviews about Stoppayingcablebills.com. I downloaded their software and it never worked. Products & Services.

I would truly like to know if this is for real; supposedly been around for a year+.

StopPayingCableBills.com does not offer any live programs. All programs they offer can be found on other sites for free. All they do is assemble them in one convenient server so you don't have to search for the programs. Overseas programming was old and way out of date.

For mainland china stuff, take a look at pptv.com, tudou.com and ku6.com. PPTV has live tv station streaming (I think mostly sat channels). All legal and free (with option to upgrade to paid, better service).
