Looking for a new subwoofer

I am looking for a new subwoofer for my HT room. It is about 3200 cubic feet and has a stairway going up to the main floor. I have a Denon 2808 receiver and Paradigm Monitor 7 fronts, CC-190 center, and ADP-190 rears. My usage is about 80% movies and 20% music.

I have been looking at the following subs but am not sure which one would be the best. I am more interested in low end extension than really high SPL, but I would like something that is able to keep up if listening loud occasionally.

ED A3-300
Epik Legend
SVS PB12-NSD
HSU VTF-3 Mk3
Outlaw LFM-1 EX

Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone have any advice on which one might be better? I am hoping to order one in the next few days.

Thanks

I have a similar set up, speaker wise, and just bought a new sub myself. The Legend was going to be my first choice, but who knows when it will actually be ready to ship. I had also considered an ED sub, but did not want to have to wait for a while before it shipped.

The other ones you have listed are all good choices, and I'm sure all three have many fans on this forum. It's a shame that most people cannot audition these internet direct subs before they buy.

I ended up busting the budget a little and buying an Empire, and have been very happy with it so far.

Thanks Poppa.

Right now I am leaning towards the Outlaw but will do some more reading over the weekend

If you're more interested in low end extension, remove the low powered sealed subs from your list.

Basically the VTF-3 and PB12NSD should be the only two remaining...and in that size room, even they will struggle somewhat. But are by FAR the best choices on that list (with the LFM-1 in third place, simply because it's brother the VTF-3 has more more port volume).

Oh, and of the remaining two, the PB12NSD seems to be better down low in terms of distortion and power compression, though the VTF seems a bit more linear.

I have a VTF3.3 with paragidm speakers in a room that's about 3000 square feet. It does everything I want and you can choose how you want the sub to sound with regards to deep extension or max output with their variable tuning feature. I personally love the sub and it's everything I would have wanted.
