Sharp xv-z17000 : New dlp full hd 3d projector - Page 19

This is what has ruined DLP for me. Among the long list of compromises projector buyers must choose, RBE is something that I have grown unable to tolerate, and it's a shame because DLP has so much to offer.

The first 1080p 3d projector was the passive LG cf3d. It is full 1080p. And crazy expensive. You don't have to lose half the resolution for passive, although the current flat panels do. Dual projector passive is getting more common, though still very uncommon. The down side is you need massive calibration (for dolby 3D) or a new screen (for polarized.) I am of the belief that if you want good 3D, and you don't have a high gain screen, you need a new screen anyway.
Also there are some active glasses that buzz. They are defective and should be returned (of course he returned the whole projector.) I have heard of more than one person with the problem.

A 3D LED DLP or laser LED DLP would be a great projector. No rainbows and no ghosting.

Any ideas why my new Sharp XV-Z17000 projector won't display an analog video signal? I would like to display an old VHS VCR and a Playstation 2 on the projector, but no combination I've tried seems to work; the only thing that appears is a blank green screen.

-- I've plugged both the VCR and the PS 2 into the Video 1 and Video 2 inputs on my Sony A-V receiver, which is outputting both an HDMI signal to the projector and an RCA video monitor out signal; the audio plays fine from both units, but the video produces nothing but the green screen.

-- I've also tried plugging the video outputs of the VCR and the PS 2 directly into the projector's RCA video jack (bypassing the receiver), but the green screen is still the only thing that appears.

-- I've tried different resolution settings on the receiver (including 'direct'), and nothing seems to make a difference.

Any ideas or suggestions? I like the projector in general, but this problem is really baffling (and frustrating).

I bought the Sharp XVZ17000 projector recently as the projector central review says it is anamorphic lens compatible. However when I apply "Cinema Zoom" it only zooms the image cropping the sides not actually stretching the image vertically removing the black bars.

Can anyone else with the XVZ17000 confirm this?

Even at this price, this PJ is not really that tempting. With the Benq W7000 being on sale receintly for a little more than this, why would anyone go with the Sharp? Really, I'm just asking
