I am not usually on this thread, but I own an RT12D and while I think its great, I have seen quiet a few other subs at half or 2/3rd the price and 3 times the performance. I am a klipsch fan and I have the RF-83 series, but their sub, well its sub-par. I would really recommend you look at others, and this is coming from an RT12D owner who spent more than $1500 only to get dissapointed, thankfully the bass shakers under my recliner are picking up the slack.

Denon put up a new website a few days ago and are currently incorrectly showing the 5308 when the 4311 is selected as well as when the 5308 is selected.

I reposted my question from the prior page since I seem to have bumped myself off to the next page with my post above.

Again, I am just looking to justify spending the extra $500 or so on the 4311 versus the 3311, and I am coming from a 3808.
many thanks

If money is not an issue, and I know the AVR4311 can street for about $500 or so more than the AVR3311, then would it be wise to spend the extra few hundred bucks and get the AVR4311? It sounds like it's a beast, and I have always had Denon receivers rated at 140watts perCh, until I got the 3808 which is 130watts per Channel. But the AVR3311 is even lower at 125watts per channel. I sure would hate to continue this downward trend every time I upgrade my receiver, especially considering I am trying to fill up a 20ft by 14 ft dedicated and treated theater room.

What am I getting with the AVR4311 that I am not with the AVR3311 and vice versa. By the way, I did used the comparison tool on Denon's website, and the comparison data was layed out very poorly. Hence why I am hoping to get a more thoughrough feature comparsion

P.S: Also Denon's website lists the giant 4311 receiver at only 6.4" in height, is this true? It looks a heck of a lot taller than my 3808, which I thought was also about 6". Can someone please provide true height, width, and depth measurements?

Thanks for the estimates. My equipment will go in an A/V closet a little ways from the theater room. If I go by the longer estimate it might reach, if I go by the shorter estimate, I'll probably have to get a mic extension cable. No big deal, I just want to be ready to fully enjoy a new receiver when it shows up.

That makes so much sense, lol. I was wondering if the image was skewed or something, the receiver in that picture looked a heck of a lot more than 6.5" inches in height.

I just googled the 4311, and just want to confirm this is it, right?

Take a look at the 3311. The 4311 is the same W and H as the 3311, and roughly 3" deeper.

Opening a can of worms....

Would you say the onkyo TX-NR5008 is better built cosmetically than the 4311?

I see, so same H and W, but the 4311 is about 11 pounds heavier though, which is about what my 3808 weighed (38 pounds).

With size not being an issue, since the 3808 and 4311 are about the same height, I will probably buy the 4311 then.

I would agree with the poster above -- the EQ system in the sub isn't nearly as sophisticated as MultEQ XT 32 (which basically gives you the power of the external AS-EQ1 sub EQ in the box) and Klipsch subs are overpriced for the performance, especially relative to the internet-direct sub specialists.

A big chunk of what you are paying for with that RT12D is all that digital doohicky stuff, which is basically redundant with Audyssey. For $1000-1500 you can get one mean dual sub setup that will trounce that sub.

I thank you and being a Klipsch fan adds to your credibility. What other Klipsch Sub would you suggest? The RT 10 d is mush more expensive right now but i am open to your suggestions. Are you on the Klipsch community forum. I use same or similar user name. Again Thank You Bob
PS sorry Denon folks to go off track but what good is a Receiver if you have poor speakers.

Well I think I have a problem with my unit right out of the box. I've tried 4 different HDMI cables (50ft, 3ft, 2-6ft) and it will work great for about 5-10 minutes then I get these multicolored lines going down the screen. I've tried resetting the unit many times and nothing. :-(
post #1544 of 21928
Try all the reset steps listed here and if still no joy, take two aspirin and call EE as they're open until 10pm EST.

Will give it a shot. I did the normal reset in the manual, but didn't leave unplugged for 30 minutes first.

EE will make me pay return shipping to them according to the website. I was thinking of calling Denon first tomorrow to see if they can do anything. If not I am going past EE on Saturday and maybe I can just exchange in store.

cdika17,

What do you expect to hear on a Denon thread? Also, I'm trying to draw the correlation between build quality and cosmetics.

I think any significant discounts at this stage are going to be hard to come by and most merchants will refuse altogether knowing that they can sell the A100 at MSRP.

Willie

Yeah probably going to try to get a discount after the initial rush to buy happens. I'm not going to pay 2500 for minor upgrades when I could get the 4311 for 1500. I would rather get the 4311 and buy an amp

EE will actually provide a UPS label to ship it back, however, not an issue for you if you can simply exchange it in the store (although they're likely out of stock at this point). Denon will however make you pay shipping.

I hope they allow you to exchange in store since I am passing by this weekend.

I must say, as I keep reading, a lot of forum members in this thread are rude, arrogant, disrespectful to others......Yeah, I'm speaking my mind.

Most stores have a 30 day replace service. I'd just call them now and not just drop by.

Yeah, I wouldn't just drop by as it is new item anyway and they may not have stock on them. I am going to give them a call in the morning as just too tired to call tonight.

I has a similar problem with my 3808ci a few months ago except my colored lines were running horizontal. Reseting the AVR cleared the problem for a short period and eventually the lines became permanent.

Turned out to be the digital board. I was lucky as it was under warranty, there's a Denon authorized repair shop within 10 miles of my home, and it only took 3 days to repair it.

Yeah but a unit that is 24 hours old should not have to be repaired so soon. The nearest authorized shop is 55 miles from me in NYC, or 22 miles if I want to jump on the ferry to CT LOL.

Don't worry about that, I thought the same thing when I had some issues with my 3311ci..I called them, after a few questions and in the returning time line( 30 days I think?) they asked me for my email, and were ready to email me an UPS label..I gave it a processing resetting , and BAM...Fixed no need to replace it.
