Agreed - even if I get the feeling that 4311 users are overwhelming, if not exclusively (minus Theresa LOL) 35+ males that live near medium to large size metropolitan areas, and have owned a series of successfully more sophicated AVRs over many years. You never know, though: Mayim Bialik (currently on the Big Bang Theory) has a doctorate in neuroscience - maybe she's a AVS lurker?
. We just have to get Anne Hathaway here.
As an aside - in my day job I'm a marketing researcher (not A/V products sadly), and I find it fascinating how much social networks like this have shaped consumer preferences. Even though I should 'know' better, when I buy new A/V toys, the first thing I do is look at the AVS thread and see the kind of issues that come up - as well as the type of people on the thread to get an indication of what level of 'after market' a/k/a real product support I can expect.
In our own case, I switched AVRs entirely due to the folks here on the 4311 thread, and we just switched which TV we were going to buy (from a Sony HX929 LED to a 55" Panny VT50 Plasma; sorry AJ) almost entirely on the comparative knowledge of the folks answering questions on that thread, or using Lumagens and Calman with it. IMO there's definitely people that buy clusters of common products, such as A/V toys, and thanks to AVS, the chicken is definitely shaping the kind of egg that results...

Of course, here we couldn't have done it w/o Batpig, with his 20K posts and all...
