While in media server my screen starts to flash about 250ml sec long in different colors green., white and a combination of both. I think I remember discussions on that. Sure hope this don’t result in a return unit?
So I have been downloading some 24 bit SACD music, Hi Res vinyl rips and such off the internet. Windows media player won't play these types of files so I cant figure out how to play them on the media server source select on my 4311. Winamp, Foobar and some other media players will play these FLAC and ISO files. Right now the only way I can listen to them is using the HDMI output on the back of my video card and I'm not sure my video card can ever carry a 24 bit signal. I had assumed using the Cat6 cable was the way to go but I have not been able to figure out how to do that. Any suggestions or thoughts on playing 24 bit music?
Just curious what everyone uses for bluray movies, maybe I should do a poll on this. I have Audyssey, Dynamic EQ ON, Reference Level Offset 0db and Dynamic Volume Day.
XO@80 and LPF for LFE @ 120
In fact I use these settings for everyday Sattellite viewing

For most it as usual comes down to personal pref. I use the same as you.

Definitely Dynamic Volume OFF for me, why compress the dynamic range unless you're getting complaints from the neighbors. Also, I keep Reference Level Offset at 10dB for most sources to tone down the aggressiveness of Dynamic EQ.

I use the exact settings you do, but with Dynamic Volume OFF--why use it for a movie, unless you're worried about the neighbors?
Remember it's all about personal preference. If you turn off Dyn Vol and find that you are constantly fiddling with the volume during a movie because dialogue is too soft and/or explosions are too loud, then applying some Dyn Vol is fine. You want to find a comfortable setting where you can watch a whole movie without having to tweak the volume, while still getting the dynamics you want and being able to hear everything clearly.

Most hdmi capable video cards carry hi-rez audio including 24 bit. I use an HTPC sourced to my 4311 and either foobar or JRiver MC18 for playback of ripped SACD/DVD-A music and for music purchased from HDTracks.
Set the Surround Back parameter to OFF (p. 87 OM).
Thanks. Trying to see if PLIIx is doing more than it should and I couldn't figure out how to get it back to just standard DD. Tried to watch Cloud Atlas last night and the background music from the rear speakers was drowning out the voices. May also have to try Dyn Vol and see if that helps. The other movies I've watched have been great with PLIIx but for some reason, this one was behaving odd.

Why not just drop the rear speakers db a few ticks until its not drowning out the fronts. Unless Living in a small apartment or have sleeping children, i don't understand why anyone would use Dynamic Volume on a bluray.

It seems to be just this one movie. I've watched 5 or 6 since getting everything set up and they've all been fine. I can turn on and off Dyn Vol with one button, whereas to lower the rears I'd have to go through a couple menus and then remember to bump them back up.
I trying to figure out if there is a solution for my sound issue...
I have my windows 8 HTPC with Nvidia 650 card passing video and sound via HDMI to a denon 4311 Receiver.
I notice that i have to increase my volume 20-30% more than my other devices to be at the same loudness.
I have my windows volume set to max 100% and there are no filters or eq..
Thoughts?
My other devices are WII via HDMI and Fios cable box via HDMI...both are 20-30% louder

You might try applying a Reference Level offset to your WII and Fios inputs, and a Reference Level Increase to your HTPC input to achieve a more balanced sound level from all 3 sources.
It was the sound field...did not have it on dts....
Whats the recommended default sound field for a cable tv(Fios) i know it switches to Dolby when available...

^Hi. Nice upgrade path. I did that too, 2809->4310->4311
See the first post FAQ:
"...because the receiver only has 9 amps built in, when you activate 11 channel mode, the receiver forces you to choose whether the FIRST TWO extra channels will be the heights or the front L/R mains."
Download the 4311 OM:
p 62 wire the FH preouts to 2809 Ext In via RCA IC,
all other speakers are wired directly off the 4311 speaker terminals
p 63 Select 11ch amp mode
p64 step 6 select FH
I believe that when using an AVR as an amp, it's a good idea to set a vol limit in that AVR. I'd try setting the MV to 0 and Vol Limit to 0 on the 2809. Hook up the FH speakers to whatever speaker posts correspond to the Ext In channels you used. Use the 4311 int test tones and ping the2809 to see that about 75 dB is output into the room, if you have an SPL.
Then run Audyssey on the 4311 and afterwards check the FH trim under Audyssey->Parameter check to be sure it's within +/- 11. Edited by SoundofMind - 3/6/13 at 5:17am
I just got off the phone with Matt at Denon concerning the Pandora-Internet Radio problem. This is when using Pandora and you see the Internet Radio interface and vice versa. He checked and it is a known issue but said it would help if more people reported the problem.
The 4520CI has the same issue.
I was hoping to get everyone who has noted this problem to call Denon at 201-762-6605, option 1.
They answered the phone quite quickly and would like to hear from everyone.
Sorry for the noob questions but I couldn't find he answer in the manual, but I just picked up a refurb 4311 for a4l. My questions is, what's the difference between using the "multeq" and "direct" button when watching a bluray? I know direct is the raw format, but does multeq turn on your room correction settings or something?
Also another question, after I ran the auto set up, the program set the crossovers at 40hz for the 3 front speakers. That seemed a little low, is that just a sign of improper calibration?

MultiEQ--yes, it turns on the AUDYSSEY room correction system (if you've run setup and calibrated it). The "DIRECT" button is designed to eliminate extra audio processing, so it completely bypasses the Audyssey system. Not sure what you mean by "raw format," but these buttons can be used with any source.

IIRC thats not actually Denon youre calling, but a third party, sub-contracted company that handles the "issues" people call about concerning Denon's products. Thats probably why he said if more people called something might be done as their trouble ticketing system would probably show a blip in the statistical analysis sheet that goes to whomever glances at it at Denon. Or it was his customer service way of saying "sorry man, Im just a CSR answering phones and reading from a screen. Maybe if more people called in something would happen, but Im just gonna hang out here until someone tells me to do otherwise".
