Inception - Page 10

Well there could be production stills, but this is maybe the first time I've seen this is all. I love Nolan (even more than DiCaprio, or Bale), I just thought this was funny though. I mean this movie has potential for any shot to be in here, even a shot of that damn pinwheel for emphasis or the spinning top. I'm not complaining about it, I was just wondering if this was the real back because of this shot that was included.

Looks like it is the real back cover. Found this on the Blu-ray.com forums:

Not bad, but again very interesting, especially without a real synopsis.

Now I asked this before but I directed it toward one person only... does anyone know which ten selected tracks will be on the bonus disc? I just want to know which ones were omitted so I can buy those separately on iTunes.

You should just buy the whole thing on iTunes. Seriously. It is a great album. Here are a couple of free bonus tracks ("Projections" and "Don't Think About Elephants") that were not included on the album:

If "Waiting for a Train" is not included on the Blu-ray, you need to at least download that one from iTunes. It is 9:30 of pure greatness. It has a really cool fade-in/fade-out of the Edith Piaf song mixed with Zimmer's music.

On PQ:
On German forums some users complain about the picture being way too soft.
I can confirm that, but that statement has a few "because" and "but"s to be added to it. Not "way too" soft though, and it was inherent in the original theatrical presentation, and it wasn't consistent. I'll be having a review up soon. You shouldn't be regretting your purchase though.

It is a bit odd, but Warner's titles with those maximum movie modes all have shots of the director as well (though granted, they're screengrabs of the max movie mode). More surprising is the lack of synopsis and credits block.
Listen, here in the UK, we're lucky if Warner put the name of the damn movie on the actual disc.

17.99 on Amazon
Does anyone know if Blockbuster might do a midnight release/rental like they did with TDK, or is this movie "not big enough" to warrant that?

I saw two commercials for this on USA earlier today, both probably within 15 minutes of each other. I can see they're really pushing for some sales!
Inception is one of those movies that requires multiple viewings so I'm sure it will do very well on Blu-ray...almost better to watch it this way versus a movie theater as you can take the time to rewind/rewatch and fully grasp everything that is going on

Did you guys see this yet?

Inception (Best Buy Exclusive)- included Shooting Script. Looks cool. It's about $12 more than what I'd be getting on Amazon without the shooting script, so I don't know...

EDIT: I have decided to order it. Free shipping, might as well. I might just keep my Amazon pre-order in the event that I want to give it to somebody as a Christmas gift. I ordered a couple of items along with 'Inception' from Amazon when they were really cheap. I got the free shipping with it. If I decided to cancel 'Inception' from Amazon, would I then be charged for shipping since the order would drop below $25? Thanks.

I like having it in my hands on release day for titles I really want so I always go the B&M route (the drive distance isn't an issue) when it is available for a good price rather than have it shipped and only save a little. $18.99 will do me, I don't need a digital copy or the DVD.

I never used a single Digital Copy yet. I do, however, make my own higher quality & DRM-free digital copies when I rip the DVD. It's useful for long road trips, flights, and things of that nature.

So, I much prefer BD/DVD combos over BD/Digital Copy combos. Luckily, with 'Inception,' I'll have all 3. It appears WB was smart enough not to waste an entire disc on the Digital Copy, as it will be included with the DVD.

I also really wanted the shooting script, so the BB Exclusive that I linked in the post above yours was my best option.

However, I do have a recommendation for you. Instead of paying $18.99 for only the Blu-ray, you could, right now, pay $17.99 for the BD/DVD/DC combo pack on Amazon. But, you want to have it on release day and don't care about the DVD/DC, so I guess that extra $1 is a fair price to achieve that.

Neither of your links bring me straight to the page, unfortunately. Seems like Best Buy is acting a little screwy and only diverts you to the home page.

EDIT: Actually, if you copy and paste the links into the address bar it appears to do some sort of redirection and takes you to the proper page.

I've only ever used one Digital Copy, but the DVDs in multi-format sets have come in handy.. I have friends that haven't upgraded to HD yet, so I can take the DVD over to their place and we can all watch stuff.

What kind of crap is this? My pre-order is showing shipped now, at the price of $24.99. (I don't ever recall using the mad smiley before). Did I just get penalized for pre-ordering?

Yay,

I get to watch Inception tonight via Hi-8 broadcast on my ship. Go TV speakers go!

Weird. Mine adjusted to $17.99 and is still not shipping yet. It seems to have adjusted to the new price after I added the lower price to my cart and then deleted it. Now, when I check the invoice of my original pre-order (from when it was $24.99), it shows $17.99.

Don't worry, Amazon will adjust to the lower price usually within 24 hours of shipping. If not, just contact customer service. I've never had a problem getting the lower price on a pre-order.

Edit: Actually I should have said 24 hours after the official release date. I got my pre-order refund notice from Amazon on 12/8/10. Unlike some other people my copy arrived early in the mail on Monday, one day before the official release date.

I like the Best Buy cover art better then the standard one

what exactly is the "shooting script book"?...is it just the movie script?...is that really worth the extra $10?

I was going to wait and see if it got adjusted, but yes, I was going to contact them about it if not. Thanks.

So, crossing fingers that WB didn't filter the crap out of this release... or use an edge enhanced IMAX version of the film like The Dark Knight.

Are there shifting aspect ratios this time? Really distracting on TDK, IMHO.

If Nolan really wants to up the ante on quality, why not shoot his next picture in pure 65mm so he can use less bulky cameras (ala Ron Fricke's Baraka)? Upconverting it to IMAX 70mm shouldn't be that difficult... just put black bars on the top and bottom to retain the 2.20:1 flat 65mm ratio. Even the digital and 35mm and Blu-ray releases would benefit if it was from a top quality 8k telecine.

Actually, Amazon just matched what Target had been offering the combo set for to begin with so I'm good to go and will have it in my hands whenever that store opens on Tuesday! I suppose one can just price match at Best Buy but Target is on my way to the office so I'm golden without having to do a lunchtime trip to BB!

Agreed, despite the fact that Nolan wanted it this way and theres no better source, I expected an image way better than this...

OT to those amazon posts, I really hope you are not serious still buying from that company....

Cheers

Tyler

PS, I got the US Disc last Sunday, and have no idea how Ralph could have rated the Blu Ray that high, even more irritating as he refers to a direct comparison to other Discs...
