Need help deciding on front,center

I currently have a Polk RM6750 and was looking to upgrade. Definitely in need of some help. Thanks in advance...

My plan is to keep the sub and surrounds(for now) and just upgrade the fronts and center. Here's what I've got:

Room: 14x20
Budget: $500 but can go over if justified(slippery slope)
Receiver: Onkyo 606(90w/channel)
Usage: Home theatre
Need: center and 2 floorstanding fronts

I've been reading these forums quite a bit and identified the following targets but I'm open to others.

Polk Monitor 60 Series II($109 at newegg)
Infinity Primus 362($200, Frys appears sold out at $149)
Polk TSi300($200)
KEF C5
KEF IQ50($300)
Boston Acoustics CS226

I guess I'm one of the ones with the Klipsch sensitivity so I've ruled them out.

Everyone that gets the Polk Monitor series seems quite pleased. I'm a little confused by how they match up against some of the other entry level speakers above. I have a little extra budget beyond them but if they're that good...

Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere to demo most of these speakers in the area.

Infinity Primus P162 have been recommended alot, I have not heard them though. They are $85 each and should sound much better than your current polks. The matching centers are $199 for PC350 & $149 for PC250.

Here's a review of the P162.

I've heard the P162 bookshelves and their big brother the now discontinued P362 towers. Pretty hard to beat for the money. What I have not heard but based on reviews would be on my short list of candidates were I looking in the OP's price range is EMP Tek's E5Ti (review). Normally $500 they have b-stock for $400 shipped. The matched E5Ci center is $220 shipped.

Thanks. I'm actually trying to go for floorstanding fronts. I got started down the whole upgrade route because the wife wanted the speakers off their current stands(boxes). Just got married so I guess this is the start of fixing my decorating(or lack thereof) When I looked into stands I realized I'd be paying more than the speakers were probably worth. I also dislike the center on RM6750 so replacing that has been on the todo list forever. The Monitor 60 and CS1/2 combo from Newegg would accomplish both of those goals so I've already committed to go at least that far. The question is whether I should put in some more money to go a little higher end...

If music is your primary concern go with the Infinity Primus P362 and the PC350 center

If TV and Movies are your main concern go with the Monitor 60's Series II with Polk CS1

I know a guy on the ClubPolk (their forums) that has a 7.1 set-up with just Monitor 50's and CS1 for the front and uses the RM6750 speakers and sub to do the rest and he loves his setup.

Make sure you can change the cross-overs per channel as the front 3 you are going to want to cross over at 80hz where the Polk RM6750's sound best crossed at 120hz

After the front 3 are upgraded I would upgrade the sub next

I agree completely. Unfortunately the P362s are discontinued and hard to find, and the replacement P363 is more expensive. If you can find some P362s for $200 each or less jump on them.

The Infinity Primus are musical and will wet your appetite, plus they are good
for home theater.
