I would like to ask anyone who owns a BOSE system some general questions about Home Theater and see if they understand ANYthing about it at all. Some rebuttals are "Maybe people just want little speakers that are hidden" to which I say "There are other systems out there with small speakers that you can hide that sound equally sh|tty for fractions of the price". Who owns BOSE that I know? My father in-law who is 60...what is the ONLY brand he has heard of...? You guessed it. He thought he was buying "quality" gear. It is so frustrating to hear that people are buying $1000+ systems that don't even have a tweeter in the speakers.
And what's with dissing "industry standards and numbers" ?? Meaningless? really? Maybe for 80 year old people who can't hear up to 20 kHz or down to 20Hz...maybe meaningless for them! But the few dollars they have is not meaningless and BOSE doesn't mind taking that now do they?
Others have said "yes they DO research" and have targeted the market accordingly...but isn't their slogan "Better SOUND through research"?? Why don't they do publicized listening 'tests' with other systems in the same price range? LOL.
If you have ever seen the movie "Crazy People", BOSE is like the advertising company in that movie: "With advertising, you need to drill drill DRILL! Not to make consumers want to have your product, but make them NEED to have it!" (or something like that).
I think the fact is BOSE sells stuff that is way overpriced and tells you that it is the best when it's not. To me, that is lies, and they
should be the one sued...
Audiophiles don't obsess over BOSE, they only discuss it when prompted from every thread I have read.
99% of the population feels sorry for that sort of obssession and loneliness.
Where did you get that stat?
