The Official Integra DTR-70.2 Thread - Page 4

Really? How do you do that?
I don't recall doing anything special. I feed the TV exclusively HDMI and I get status messages from volume changes to DSP selection changes in the bottom right of the screen.

Does anyone own the DTR 80.2, if so is it worth the difference from the 70.2. Also does anyone have an idea when the 70.3 and 80.3 are being released. I appreciate any replies as I'm supposed to pick up the 80.2 this weekend.

Thanks
Joe

i've been taking a closer look at the integras...

seems to me the dtr-70.2 is a dhc-80.2 with amps....and 300.00 less

whoops...just saw the dhc-80.2 has 32 bit dacs, 24 bit for the dtr-70.2

Question on the relay-clicking...I have a new DTR 70.2 and have been reading through various messages primarily on the DHC thread that discussed the relay clicking.

My issue is not so much with the click volume itself, but rather with when it occurs and the brief, momentary fraction of a second of audio drop-out that follows, which greatly enhances its noticeability and distraction to the flow of a movie.

So far, I can only base my observations on a DVD and a BD-R played through. The setting I use (source, IIx, Neo6 Audessey DSX (sp), IIz, THX, IIz+THX (my preferred using heights) actually has no bearing on the clicks, but the film content affects the length of the click (virtually no impact to a noticeable but momentary pause (we're talking fractions of a second, but long enough to be definitely noticeable by interrupting the audio before returning).

I am using an LG BD-570 player. With the DVD (was passing Dolby Digital as the source), clicks occurred on each chapter change and only on the chapter changes. With the BD-R, there were no clicks whatsoever (DTS Master-HD source) as chapters changed or otherwise.

Is there something else I'm missing, or is that just the way it is unfortunately with the receiver? It never clicked on the 11-yr old Denon AVR-3801 in either mode, but the sound was passed through via Digital Optical (which obviously limited quite a few things).

I do otherwise LOVE the unit and the heights make an indescribable difference! The clicks on DVD playback (for me, at least) are a definite drawback, though, in that they do seriously detract from the experience when you have an audio interruption approximately every 5 minutes if only for a brief moment. Since most of my material still resides on DVDs, it would be nice if that were mitigated, but the current firmware update did not do so.

Question about zone functions...
I use 5.1 in my main family room with audyssey engaged for most tv/movies, and 2.1 with audyssey for music - sounds and works fantastic!
I have outdoor speakers for my 3rd zone on the patio (2nd zone is in another room in house with same issue), but obviously did not do audyssey and it's 2.0. My issue is that I cannot change the 3rd zone to 'Direct' 2.0 while leaving the main room at 'Dolby digital' with audyssey. When i try to change one, it always changes both. Any help is appreciated.

After Downloading the firmware update for 9/26/2011 (Im a bit late) the sound has improved tremdously with Audessey.

Try plaing songs from a external HDD, then after EVERY song you will get the MUTE click and before the next song starts you will get the double click to undo MUTE again
Realy a very, very bad issue with this receiver and most of the Onkyo's.
I even posted this problem on Youtube but Onkyo never changed any thing in the receiver so it would not mute.
Now i play songs through an iPod and this goes without the MUTE clicks.
But what i want is to play FLAC from a HDD but then i get the clicks again.
The most strange thing is that when you disable the subwoofers in the speaker setup menu you DO NOT get the clicks, enable sub(s) and you have the clicks back............

I play quite a bit of music off my Cowon J3...I haven't actually noticed clicks with it, so it may behave as the iPod does (or I've tuned it out possibly). Mine can play FLACs, so I'll need to encode some and see if they play without clicks. Virtually all of my collection is in ogg format.

Hello, i tried various HDD's but all made the Integra click away during song changes.
In basis an iPod is also a HDD but why an iPod is not making the receiver click (mute) i do not understand.
The mentioned clicks are exact the same as when you use the MUTE button on the remote.
And the clicks will be with the 2 audio codecs i tried, Flac and MP3 in various bit-rates......

Did you just do the software update or did you also do a new Audessey setup ?

For me i do not use Audessey, i just do one Audessey run to get the info about the speaker distance then delete the Audessey info and use the manual eq and set it up the way i like it.
The less "electronic" audio help, the better it is in my listening world
After Audessey i never liked the way how the dB levels of the speakers are, surrounds to loud, center to soft ect. ect.
Also do not like the Audessey eq, but thats personal, think Audessey is a good help for users that do not have the time and/or knowledge to set the audio up to there personal taste, run Audessey and your dun, but........

Are you using the same audio mode for TV before and after the update ?

Yeah I noticed that about the Center channel that it sounded too soft, I like my back speakers up just a tad over. I had bouth the receiver earlier this year, and did a firmware update. Got on the website the other day, saw they had a firmware updates since I purchased the reciever. Did another Audessey set up and it sounds completely different. Before the update, all the sound fields sounded the same, now they each sound different. Dunno, maybe the other Audessey setups where not very good. However, I love the set up now and sounds very nice. Wish I had the time to do it myself. Maybe one of these days

"Problem" with Audessey is that when you do a second setup and do not have the mic in exact the same possition as the first setup, it will sound different.
Even the smallest change in the mic setup or room setup (curtains closed or open) will make the end result different.
I hate that and this is why i do spend some time in setting up myself.
But in the end, if you like it don't change it

I finally turned on the Video Processing on this beast, and I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing it sooner. I had it in the pass through mode, and now customized my settings and the picture is night and day. Looks like a new TV...

I set up my new 70.2 today and installed the recent firmware. Ran Audyssey and trying out different movie modes. Pretty happy so far!

I am using the 70.2 as multi-zone. While watching a movie in the main zone and listening to internet radio or Pandora in Zone 2 or Zone 3, I do not know how to change radio station without having to set the main zone to iRadio then change the station, then put the main zone back to movie. It is very annoying that the other zones can not be controlled independently. I try using the receiver remote and the Oremote app. No luck. I know I could do that with my old Denon without issues.
Anyone know something I don't know or can confirm this behavior.

I've been loving my DTR-70.2...UNTIL... my HDMI video out to my display just stopped working...audio works fine. Anyone aware of this being a weakness in the DTR 70.2? Been working flawless for almost a year. Any solutions?

I have a DTR 40.2 and it's gone back to the shop for the third time. It was the HDMI board on all three failures. Integra is going to exchange it. I've owned Denons for years prior to this. It's the last straw. I suppose if the replacement fails I'm going to keep sending it in over and over and over. Do a search for Onkyo failures; it's an eye opener.
