BIC America Speaker Opinions

Im nearing the purchase point for my speakers. Ive narrowed my reciever choices to a couple of models, so in the mean time, I wanted to hear opinions on BIC America products. Ive seen alot of good user reviews, but not much in the way of pro reviews. They seem to be backed with a reasonable warranty as well and have been around for a while.

The set Im looking to get would be:

For the center
-BIC America FH6-LCR Dual 6.5-Inch 175-Watt

For the fronts and rears
-BIC America DV62si Bookshelf type

For the Sub
-BIC America F12 12-Inch 475-Watt

For reference, im currently picking between the following recievers:
Pioneer 1020/Pioneer 1120/Onkyo 708

So what do you guys think? Any different brands in a similar price point that would be better? (~$700 for the 5.1 set) Thanks.

ok, noticed some weird pricing with the sub.

I had the V12 on my list a while becuase it was $258 from Amazon, now the price has gone up to $350. Now thats not a deal breaker, but then I noticed that the BIC Acoustech Platinum Series PL-200 Sub is only $330 (3rd party Amazon seller) and its clearly a better sub from the specs and better warranty.

So does anyone have opinions about those subs or the other speakers?

The Bic H100 is the preceding model to the PL200 and people still rave about it i have seen the price of $200 of it.

Bic Acoustec speakers are liked haven;t really heard much about these

I have the BIC DV62si as my mains on a 2.1 music only system. Awesome bang for the buck. Amazing tonal balance and clarity.

I developed a mod for them that makes them a no brainer. See this thread:

thanks for the responses so far.

I had another question.

Is the BIC Formula FH6-LCR Center the clear better choice compared to the DV62CLR-S Center? The price difference is so low (About $20 seperates the two), that it seemed like a no brainer to me. although the DV62CLR-S has a longer warranty, the FH6-LCR looks like a much more capable center.

Another question I had about the FH6-LCR. Now since its using a horn tweeter, does that mean its more geared toward larger rooms and would therefore not sound as good in a smaller room versus the standard dome tweeter?

The room Im working with is an open one, with a dining room and kitchen. The size of the area for the living room is more like 16x18. Would that type of area be better suited to horn type tweeters or does it not matter in my case?

I'm curious about this too. Though I have a smaller room.

I've been considering a FH6-LCR center paired wirh the FH-65B bookshelves.
I have also heard the LCR is a sealed enclosure. Is this true? If so that would really help me with placement.

I had also considered the FH-65B speakers, but becuase they also use horn tweeter, i got the feeling from reading other threads that those are more beneficial for larger rooms and could actually sound worse in ways versus the standard.

so if anyone can clear that up, that would be helpful. The FH-65B sure look like a step up from the DV62si in all other specs if the tweeter issue wasnt a question.

I would also like to know if the horns are bright on these. They would only be used for HT. Have the 62 Venturi center channel and was looking to replace the rest of my speakers.
