Lg 47lh40 dead set!

Hello,

The above set (2 months out of warranty), went dead on me , plugged into a power strip with 3 other components (all OK), no power even to the standby light. unplugged for 24 hrs, no change. Is this a power supply board issue, and if so ,is it worth fixing. LG told me to take it in.

Thanks

I would start by checking your main fuse on the power supply board. If blown, then replace. If new fuse re blows, then replace yopur power supply.

If your fuse is not blown check your standby voltage goint to the main board. should be between 3 and 5 volts. If it is there you could have a bad main board. If it is not there then replace your power supply. Good luck to you

Thanks darstr,

Is there someplace online I can download a schematic, etc., what would the main fuse look like, a small glass cylinder or what?

The fuse will look like a normal fuse, just not see through. will have metal at both ends of the tube, and should be located next to where your ac power comes into the board. As far as a schematic, you should be able to goolge it and find one

Found it, white w/ green stripe in the middle ,looks fine. Think I'll order a power board online and install it myself. Thanks for the input and help!

Did you check your voltages from the power supply? Or are you just going to try your luck picking a board? Odds are it is your power supply, but you want to be sure.

This story has a happy ending. I finally ordered, and received, a power board from shopjimmys.com, installed it today, and I'm once again enjoying HDTV, all for 70.00 !! How much do you think a shop would have charged me? Thanks to Gary's Repair's youtube videos, and Preher-tech videos, I did my own diagnosis. I'm going to send the powerboard invoice to LG and keep insisting they pay for it, since this unit was just 2 months out of warranty.Just as a gesture of goodwill.
