Saw Monster House 3d bluray in store tonight

So was walking around Fred Meyer tonight ( stationed in Alaska ) and was looking at the only 3d tv they had and I saw the Cloudy 3d movie and then noticed Monster House 3d bluray I suddenly remembered it wasn't due out till the 14th so it was kind of odd to see. I didn't get it since the ps3 3d update is delayed till October!

Retailers have had it for a while it's just that they can't sell it until next week.

I was impressed with it when I saw it in 3-D in 2006. It's subtle, with a fairly narrow stereo base. The clips on the Disney demo disc were representative to what I remember seeing.

maybe they ran out of stock? We all are looking for 3d content.

I cancelled my pre-order because the movie looked pretty dumb and the 3D didn't look very good from the trailer. It wasn't worth more than $15 imo especially considering all the IMAX movies coming out Nov 2 are all like $15-20.

Highdefdigest has posted a very positive review of Monster House. As far as the 3D effect goes, the review asserts that its all about depth no real "in your face" effects.

From the trailer not enough popout and the animation style wasn't very appealing to me. The animation itself also seemed "low-res" like it wasn't very detailed.

No "pop out in your face"

Lots of Depth with a good transfer.

plus the movie its self is fantastic IMO. Probably the best "non Pixar" animated movie.

Mine is supposed to show up Friday. Hopefully this means "Open Season" is right around the corner. Otherwise the next 3D BD sighting will be in November with "A Christmas Carol".

monster house has those black borders arrrggghh

Just watched this one. I hadn't seen it before, but I enjoyed it. It really picks up in the second half. Once they get trapped in the house, it's a great ride for the rest of the movie. 3-D is definitely more on the subtle side, but it's a great looking film.

I assume you mean it's letterboxed. While I normally like scope presentations when it comes to 3D I prefer a full frame picture as the more of your peripheral vision the image covers the better the 3D effect.

Have you seen Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs? That one also had 3D that was on the subtle side and I'd be curious to know how this compares.
