Which version of Black Ops will you be buying?

PJ and I were gaming the other day and he made the point that while the Hardened edition of Black Ops comes with 4 extra Zombie maps, there wouldn't be much point in buying it if the rest of his friends didn't have said maps as well. So true...

So, my question is what version is everyone buying? I'm still torn as well. I may go Hardened if enough people buy it, although if they do release the extra maps as DLC soon and it wasn't overly expensive I'd go the standard route.

Not a zombie fan but if all of you guys are doing it then I most likely will as well (peer pressure huh) otherwise I am perfectly ok with the vanilla edition.

One question - are the Zombie maps part of the regular rotation on TDM, Domination etc or is there a special option just for this on the MP list?

If it is a special option on the MP list then I will probably skip it since it would not affect the regular play side of things.

It's an entirely different game mode.

For alot of people though it was by far their favorite aspect of World at War. I thought it was kinda fun but only played it a few time with random peeps before I sold the game.

Its Co-op

It's like Special ops is in MW2 ... a completely different mode that is Co-op.

I'm in the same boat as kabob as he mentioned. Currently have the standard edition on preorder but may upgrade based on the poll results here or any info on the future release of the 4 extra maps for standard users too.

I'm going with Monty Brewster's "none of the above"

Understood, but since the topic is "which are you buying" I figured people not interested hopefully wouldn't check the thread and be upset that they couldn't voice their dissonance

Quick question, can you play as single in the zombie mode, or do you have to always team-up?

Btw, its between prestige or hardend for me.

You can play single, its a lot tougher though because once your down its game over, with other players you have a chance to get revived.

I'm waiting to order until we get more details. I really want to know if there are indeed new maps coming and if there really is anything changed on these old maps. I guess we'll have to wait another month until they divulge all the details.

Well since it is a different mode then I will have to say I am going with the Vanilla edition. Vote has been cast.

To quote one of my favorite no brainer 80's action movies

"No, thanks I'll keep my $20"

(guessing no one will remember this quote from the movie even though most of you have seen it)

That was my thought as well. Hell I have yet to even do the CO-OP part of Spec Ops in MW2. Would like to knock it out but just never got to it since I do so much MP now.

If they come out as DLC I may jump on it but I think the vast majority of my time will be in competitive MP.

i agree here, and i can't see them being more than 800-1200... hell if consumers weren't so stupid (i'm talking to ALL of you who bought MW2 maps) the zombie maps would cost a cool 400 ms points.

Regarding the zombie maps, I have to hope that treyarch is seeing our same dilemma with the 4 zombie maps. If only people who have the hardened edition have them, they won't get played very much because I think 90% of gamers, particularly the "general public" (ie not forum nerds like us) will be getting the standard version. Therefore they almost *have to* release them for download. I can't imagine they will cost more than $20 for download, and I don't want any of the other hardened edition crap, so the only thing I stand to lose is time -- the amount of time between release date and download availability of the maps.

Though, in all seriousness, if enough of you are getting the hardened edition and definitely plan 100% on playing the zombie maps, I'll pay the extra $20 to *potentially* have them sooner.

One final thing -- are we SURE they are zombie type maps (ie waves of enemies), or is it possible they are spec ops types of "maps" where they are mission based. If they are spec ops maps, I have little to no interest in them at all. I like trying to survive wave after wave and seeing how far you can get, but spec ops doesn't hold its appeal nearly as much for me.

Im getting the standard edition. Doesnt make sense for me to buy any extra's when I want to do one thing with the game.. and thats kick some azz in MP online. If they could just sell me the MP online portion as pure DLC for $39 then I would buy that instead. Less discs to worry about using or losing.

And for the record.. Im not buying a Porsche, cuz I like Ferrari. Since other people felt need to post what they werent buying, in a thread specifically titled: "Which version are you buying" ..then I felt the need to check my worthless "Im not buying this" 2cents in also.

Totally agree, but the zombie maps we are talking about are MP as well, only not against other real people. Very team oriented which is what I love about it when you get a good team together... same as doing objective maps on regular MP, only against an enemy you can't beat - only see how good you can do. In any event, I would buy the non-single-player version as well.

No point in buying anything other than the standard edition. Really, it's absolutely no point.

Trolling posts removed. Infractions issued. Given the title of the thread, if you're not a fan of the product, you really don't have much business coming in here to say so.

They are the 4 Zombie maps from WAW. Not new maps.

Commando?

I did not buy the MW2 map packs, and I will probably go with the least expensive version of Black Ops...

← Guilty of purchasing said MW2 maps...they've been a blast but man they're expensive.

You may enjoy the zombie maps a good bit. It's team based and it can get difficulty. It's essentially an idea straight out of a zombie survival movie, you're holed up in a building and zombies are trying to break down barricades, so you kill said zombies and rebuild/revive to survive as long as you can. Co-op it was by far the best part of W@W.

Trust me, it'd be fun to have a AVS group zombie mash. Jammy and PJ talking smack to unresponsive NPC zombies, Daekwan going self-airstrking himself to take out zombies, blowfish taking out zombie air support, jitu throwing knives at zombies only to realize that they have no affect on the undead...yet it's aaaaaaall good!

i believe 1 shpped with the game, and 1 each with each map pack.

I will have to find the link after work, but I'm almost 100% sure that is what I read about the Hardened Edition.
