Looking for HD Streaming Solution

Currently...copying my BD collection thru DVDFab to my PC whci I will transfer to my NAS once set-up.
Not all copies play correctly thru windows media/PS3 because of the sound.
I know the PS3 will not stream HD audio, but would like to retain the HD video/audio in the copies and stream them to my HDTV.

Any thoughts/solutions on attaining this goal?

Thx

All depends on how much you want to spend. I have the Dune Prime 3.0 and it does all that perfectly. The cost was reduced around here because the new Dune Max is out, but even still its around $500 but it does include a bluray player. I would recommend the Dune players which can be modular and cheaper but with less options.

I am also debating if itwas worth the cost for the 300.00 NAS box or just using external USB 2.0 or 3.0 drives to back up my media. I can always plug them into my PC and stream thru it to the PS3 and watch if needed.

Just looking for the easiest/cheapest means to copy my movie collection to back-up in one location and pick what I want to watch vs grabbing a different disk everytime I want to watch something.

The ps3 is a good game machine a great blue ray player and an absolutely lousy media streamer. Buy a product that will be good... get a Dune.

What about the new Netgear 550?
Worth the wait..?
Is storing all my videos (BD/DVD) on an internal HDD or external a good idea?
Will they stream thru the Netgear (HD video/audio) just fine?
Not to interested in a NAS set-up.

Sure, why not? I personally would recommend the Dune. Mine is networked to my computer playing my collection of ripped blurays, mkvs and avis with HD audio if they have it.

I have been using DVDFab for copying/ripping my BD disks, but the 25-30gig size takes up alot of room. What is better to reduce size without losing video/audio quality...m2ts or mkv?

I read that ripbot can compress them, but I have never used it. The whole point of this is convenience for me so I figure I will just buy a new hard drive if I need the space. I don't want to get involved with compression and all that. It takes up too much of my time.

Netgear makes great NAS devices but lousy streamers. I have the EVA9150 and it never did work well. It sits in my closet waiting for a buyer. They make promises, dont deliver then abandon their products.

You will got through your hard drive in no time flat. I have a couple of NAS systems and they are the way to go. Don't compress, you will be dissapointed.

With a sales pitch like that, no wonder you can't find a buyer.
