Panasonic PT-AE-4000 Flashing Red Lamp Light

Help! I just purchased a Panasonic PT-AE4000 projector and installed it yesterday. It worked fine yesterday and this afternoon (long enough to watch a couple movies and a football game). However, when I went to turn it on a little while ago the power never turned on. The green light blinks for a while and then the red lamp light starts to blink. I have tried powering it down and unplugging it and restarting and it does the same thing. I have also tried removing the lamp and re-installing. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or do I have to replace the lamp (after ten hours?) or contact an Authorized Service Center like the manual suggests? I bought the projector to watch the NFL package on and I would hate to miss the first weekend! Thanks.

They have fixed the projector and it is being shipped back to me now. They are telling me that they had to replace the ballast. They told me it is not a common issue. What really disgusted me is that the projector was about 5 hours old before malfunctioning and Panasonic made me pay the shipping to get the projector to them to fix. The last thing I want to do after paying $2000 for a brand new projector is pay $70 in shipping. I guess Panasonic does not stand behind its product. Hopefully this is not a continuing trend with the projector.

Holy crap! I'm glad to hear its been fixed, but they made you pay for shipping. Thats beyond wrong. Today is the 24th, did you send it in after the 11th? if so then it 2 weeks to get it back to you? Thats not good if they did, but that's assuming you just got it back too.

I just recently purchased an epson not just because the quality of the unit, but the excellent customer service and turn around time if it does break. The panny is a magnificent unit when its working though. I hope it doesn't break on you again.
