"The Walking Dead" on AMC HD - Page 61

18 Miles Out -A masterpiece...

Action - perfect

Drama - excellent

Charater Development -superb

Plot - unpredictable

A case for addition by subtraction; less cast = best episode.

This was a great episode. Lots of character development. It took one and a half seasons until the all the character started to fall into the "who they are". I would love to see more back story on Glen and the old guy though".

Better then last week which is saying a lot. Show is at it's best ever right now.

Well, at least this season, yes. This was another great episode. The second half of season two is already a step above the first. Here's to hoping they don't screw it up.

Horrible grain last night (1st I really noticed) , decent if not silly episode. Stil the story did advance.

Anybody else catch the discussion about the first two zombies not having any bite marks on them? I think the writers are preparing to tell us that when you die you become a walker no matter if you've been bitten or not.

No different than other episodes for the grain.

They did mention scratch marks, but never gave any clear cut answer. Some foreshadowing perhaps? What about Shane using the same knife he stabbed a Walker with to cut his hand on the bus?

I can't beleive there's only three episodes left.

Dunno never noticed it as badly as I did last night. Maybe it was the open fields that did it.

Also anyone see a lots of wound cutting AFTER they stab zombies in the head?

I thought the same thing when I saw him cut his hand with the knife. How bad is the whole idea about using knives? Close combat with Zombies is not a good idea. Bayonets perhaps, but not knives.

GREAT episode though!!!

The comments about not seeing bite marks on those 2 cops is going to tie in to what the doc told Rick in season 1. Rick knows something nobody else does about this.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed that when Rick was wrestling on the ground with the walkers in between the two cop/sheriff cars, it looked like one of those cars had a hose connected from the tailpipe to the inside of the car. Did the sheriff deputies commit suicide and then turn?

I don't know but I must say they did an awesome job on makeup etc last night. The one shot after Rick had shot through the one zombie to get the one on top. You can see his gun through the back of teh head of the first one he shot. Awesome!

3 episodes and still we know 1 character dies right? I'd lean to Andrea now after last night.

You may be right, although I'm still thinking Shane, more so due to the actor getting a starring role in Frank Darabont's new TV venture LA Noir.

Not that Mr Bernthal cannot do double duty....but that fact + the still obvious tensions btwn Shane & Rick on leadership roles make me think Shane has donned his symbolic red shirt.

We shall see....

With Rick and Shane having their heart to heart and looking at the previews for next week one of them will have to go. We know its not Rick so that leaves only one possibility.

Didn't Shane get scratched when he was with Otis? There was fear on his face as he seemed to realize one didn't have to be bit to be infected...About using knives...I think Rick was at least partially trying to reverse the tables with Shane. With Shane being so smugly sure Rick was too soft to keep his family safe and he was better suited for the job, Rick was calling his bluff. The whole car trip was at least partly an alpha wolf putting a beta back in his place. Agree it was a great episode. The last two have finally fulfilled the promise of the pilot. Its been a long time coming but the show seems to be on a roll now.

Major props to Glen Mazzara, he said more action, zombies and scenes outside the farm we're coming. He is the show runner and co-wrote last night's episode...Good job, Glen!! Shane, imo, isn't going anywhere, that laugh after he stabbed the zombie in the head was something... The new kid has to go, and on Talking Dead last night, what was the black mouth treatment??? Kevin Smith did another great job commenting on the show... Maybe the Host could go next??? Getting closer to the season 1 best shows....

I'm wondering if the CDC guy told him the virus is mutating in some way.

Definitely the best episode of the season. The closing scene with the Wye Oak folk song playing in the background while Shane stares out the window at the walker in the field was top notch, IMO. I doubt Shane will accept Rick's leadership model.

after Dr Jenner checked everyones blood he told Rick "No Surprises" so maybe everyone is infected which he already knew...and then told rick than make sure everyone has a bullet in their head or else they will re-animate.

Also as far as a character who MUST be dying/leaving the show...it could be the old sopranos trick where the preview showed someone dying and it ended up being no one of relevance...so if someone from walking dead is definitly going to be gone by the end of the season i would say it would be the kid who hasnt had a more than 1 line speaking part that dates herschels daughter or it may be carol just blowing her brains out from depression....either way I cant see shane leaving the show to gamble on a pilot on TNT

The whole other show thing could be confusing. First it would have been part of the plot for Shane to "leave the show". He wouldn't have a choice. Or the lead in the pilot on LA Noir could be small enough part that he could do both. Or he dies in the LA Noir pilot and still does Walking Dead.
They are setting Rick and Shane up for a head on crash. Does that mean that Shane is going to die.....I don't know.

In the preview of next week's episode it was made abundantly clear that Shane wants to be "King of the Hill."

I agree with the majority that this last episode was excellent. We've come a long way in just a few weeks...and I'm not just talking about 18 miles from the farm!

..and it would have been perfect without the "suicide girl" subplot. I found myself fast forwarding past much of that junk, especially when Andrea came on the scene.

The only part of that I enjoyed as Lori calling Andrea useless and Andrea calling out Lori for going out and wrecking the car:

"and have you apologized for that, by the way?"

I loved this episode. Was just excellent, but still could of done without the all the scenes on the farm. The Rick/Shane conflict was handled perfectly. Lots of zombies. Just great, hopefully the rest of the episode this season keep this up.

I agree, yet the sub-plot helped contrast and indirectly add more tension to the action scenes.

I liked the "suicide girl" sub-plot as It set a tone of despiration and took the focus off the rest of the cast (other than Rick and Shane) .

Just watched this episode last night. Thought it was excellent. Easily the best this season and one of the best of the series.

I definitely think we are going to find out that everyone turns into a zombie after they die. We had the CDC doctor telling Rick a secret, Rick shooting the guys in the bar again after they were already dead and Herschel telling him he was right, then last nights episode with the cops and the scratches discussion. I'm thinking that it will be revealed pretty soon.

I think if they do reveal that everyone turns, it's going to bring up a lot more discussion about suicide and suicide pacts and stuff.
I liked the suicide girl subplot because it speaks to the overall theme of the show and the world they live in. I thought it was well done.

Yea I liked how they kept jumping from one character who just wanted to quit and die than to shane and rick who were fighting for their lives to live vs the zombies

Kinda changes the meaning of "ending it all", doesn't it?

Don't see the need for the suicide girl plotline either. They've already done the "there is no hope' with Lori, Andrea, Herschel, and probably others I'm forgetting. We get it already...course if she goes through with it and comes back it might get interesting...
