...what?

Is that all folks want to see? Zombies getting the crap blown out of them? I'm done with the show...it's horribly written. From Jimmy's laughably bad death scene to Lori's inconsistencies to everyone showing up at the same time to Carl's horrible acting, there's too much bad to outweigh the zombie goodness. I hope the writing improves for you folks still watching next season.

Sounds good as it makes sense. My coworker and I were like why wouldn't they be attacking them even with out their arms.

I hope the show doesn't become Zombie-kill-of-the week like some people seem to want. That's a boring show. I like the story of people being their own worst enemies.

As for the slave zombies... ok, take the arms no scratching... but just taking the lower jaw? Why wouldn't they still try to attack you and scrape at you with their upper teeth?

It wasn't where he pulled up to that was dumb. It was getting out of the drivers seat and opening the door that was unbelievably stupid.

I was more shocked at that then countless evisceration shots.

True, but show me a better Zombie show on TV?

You got the feeling that Herschel's family were woefully unprepared physically and mentally to deal with the zombie menace. They were too isolated to have dealt with it much other than the odd stray zombie and family who phased into zombiehood.

And let's be honest. He was a character that had a handful of lines all season. He hasn't really developed, he's a dead end. It was an obvious choice for him to "red shirt" himself in the way he did.

From a writing standpoint it makes perfect sense. From a realistic standpoint, I don't think even Carl would have made that mistake

i am surprised no one has commented on the perfect headshots delivered by everyone both while hanging out of cars, running for their lives, or holding the gun with one hand...aside from the actual fact that there are zombies roaming the earth that has to be the most unbelieveable part of the show...

great episode..tremendous action..you really had to keep tally on who was with who when they all split up...i can see andrea take a 4-5 episode break and then come in with a random save with a katana to our group the same way she was saved...

Oh it was pretty ridiculous, my favorite was one Andrea had after she grabbed the gun bag, she was falling over, half turned, no look, hip fired and BOOM headshot. That one and Lori's silly firing that revolver from the porch. I'm pretty sure that thing would knock her over.

My wife and I were cracking up (ok...it was just me, because she doesn't know guns), at Hershel's "magic shotgun". He made about 30 shots on a short-tube pump action shotgun that holds 5-6 rounds at best (4-5 in the tube + 1 in the chamber). Then when he takes time to reload once, he gets overrun.

Not to mention all the perfect headshots from cars moving over rough ground...it's hard to hit a moving target, but if you're moving as well??? Nearly impossible, even for Seal Team-6 snipers.

I never get why they rely almost exclusively on guns (everyone except Daryl). I would have thought they would go to swords or makeshift something on a car or construction vehicle to mince the zombies up en masse.

...

And how is this show different from any other show that has ever been made? It is the norm in TV and movies to easily make these difficult shots. It isn't reality after all.

Its not anymore and to me that's the frustrating part of it. The fact that it wasn't cliche and brought a realistic and dramtic spin to the genre is what made season 1 stand out. Now not so much, i couldn't care less for any of the characters except Darryl, and they totally bungled his arc this season.

I'm thinking, being a farm and all, if they rolled up with a threshing machine or a harvester, that would be pretty awesome.

A few comments and observations:
1) Rick did the right thing not bringing-up "we are all infected and screwed to hell". Others from the group may have considered suicide, which would have decrease the strength in numbers.
2) A standard 9mm Glock magazine can hold 19-rounds. We have to assume re-loads were done during the scene cuts for the shotguns??
3) Perhaps, the hooded sword carrier is using the chained zombies twins to mask her scent???
4) Lori is the worst mother and wife in TV history...enough said.
5) T-Dog.... how is going to the coast going to help the situation....he must have never seen movie "The Road".
6) The multiple head shots from a moving vehicle....is a joke! Try going to a range and hit a human simulated target from 10 to 15 yards...not easy.

Overall, I enjoyed Season 2 and looking forward to Season 3. This show is one of best of the Zombie genre....the original "Night of The Living Dead" being #1.

Ok, a few negatives first.

1. The number of headshots, while driving and bouncing and turning, just ridiculous.
2. Rick's wife suddenly mad at him, even though she basically told him Shane had to be killed.
3. Why did they have to leave the farm? Why not draw all the zombies out. They are attracted to noise, go out a ways, make a lot of noise to attact them. Lead them out for awhile, even hours. Drive off in the direction that leads them away (heck they clearly showed this group walking all the way from Atlanta to follow a helicopter so clearly the zombies would continue in that direction for days, months). Then do a big circle/loop and come back to the farm when you are out of sight/sound from the zombies, problem solved.
4. Why are they mad Rick is now telling him about the CDC guy??? What would you of done different knowing that info earlier? Just dumb writting on that part.

Other then that, this was hands down the best episode of the series. Amazing opening scene. Loved how they answered all the questions on the fence and how they could of gotten in. Intense fight, on the edge of your seat kind of stuff. Love how Herschel is backing Rick so solidly. Darryl finally back to being Rick's go to guy, that just fits sooo well. Love Michone's introduction, loved the prison scene. Just sooo many good things, wow, amazing episode.

if beth would have died from shock in the house and left unattended she would have came back and wreaked havoc in the house...

If the script didn't call for it, I think all but 2 could have hid in the house (maybe all in basement but Daryl upstairs (with stairs blocked off at the bottom) on lookout from window). Maggie driving was good cause she knows the area. She and Glenn just had to lead the walkers off the property.

Yep .. if every show or film had to be based in total reality in order to air, we'd lose content big time ..

This season was solid, IMO .. with the Shane arc / the Farm / more development of Daryl / etc, regardless of what writing inconsistencies some may pick at, the season was entertainment and well worth the time commitment .. and that's what I tune in for .. to be entertained .. and WD has not yet failed in that regard ..

Just a great setup / cliffhanger as well .. we have the Hooded Stranger and a prison .. Rick insisting that there is a place they will find that they can hold up in somewhere, and then ending with the wide shot of what looked like a maximum security prison .. there is hope yet for the "small band of survivors" ... can't wait for next season ..

Did anyone else think as the episode went on and Rick was talking when they ran out of gas, he sounded more and more like Shane? Not the voice of course but what he said, etc.

Yes all the headshots was ridiculous but it's a tv show...and it's entertaining.
I'm sure those who read the books know this, but even if the zombies have their arms and lower jaw cut off, I'm curious as to how they are "trained" not to still try and attack.

All I can say is, I hope that last part with Rick saying this is no longer a democracy doesn't make him a jackass for the rest of the series like Shane was. I liked Rick and would hate to now see him as another you'd wish to see offed.

yeah, I got that .. he was obviously under extreme stress ..

I'm betting next season something gets written in that deals with the universal infection .. otherwise, Earth ends up as ZombieWorld at some point .. and it's likely going to have some tie in with Lori's baby ..

But then if a bunch did make it in you would be trapped. the Attic would make more sense for something like that as long as you had another way out of the attic. But either way, they did not have any contingency plans. They felt too safe on the farm and let their guard down. Everyone was panicked and rightfully so with hundreds of walkers encroaching on them. That is really too many to do anything about. Plus night time did not help either since visibility is greatly reduced.

It's a TV show about zombies - running out of ammo only happens when 1 human is being chased by several zombies.

Agreed - despite what my silly retorts may seem to give the impression of. I'm fine w/ TWD being for all intents & purposes a somewhat soapy drama....that of course has flesh-eating zombies as part of the scenery.

And it's common knowledge that the womp rat is one of the most difficult moving targets in the known Universe ..

I was expecting them to look in the spare tire area of the SUV and find the ammo stashed there by Shane. Hopefully, they'll find it next season...
