Somebody mention bunkers? Get one of these and you won't have to worry about spoilers:

Lori and Carl are beyond worthless. I think the worst Lori moment was in the previous episode when the woman told Lori that Carl had said something vile about Sophia and then Lori said, "It will be okay" not, "I'm so sorry...." or some variation thereof.

that helicopter and group of zombies were the same from episode 1 of season 1...i believe they were eating ricks horse in the begining of the episode

I was just thinking about the scene w/ Lori, Carl, and TDog in the truck. It could be viewed as a satire of spousal relations. He's driving, and insists they're going the right way. She's insisting that they're going the wrong way. Finally, he peevishly whips the truck around, unable to admit that she's right.

Regardless of when the helicopter flew by, the point was it led to the zombie herd going by the farm.

I don't think the heli had anything to do with the herd .. the "migration" comment in the finale is likely the cause ..

Yeah, it did. They showed the zombies look up at the helicopter and then start walking the same direction it went. They have already established that noise directs them, they just kept walking in the same direction.

Plus, I thought it was cool is that it looked like the horde was going to walk completely past the farm, but when Shane fired his last shot, the horde turned and walked towards the sound, which was also toward the farm.

Your opinion / my opinion .. both opinions ..

I'm still not getting why they threw in the downtown ATL shot w/o explanation. The new Buffy I get, but not that shot.

It's just a historical time line. They don't need to spoon feed it. They have flashed back before.

DIdn't they mention them following the sound of the helicopter on the Talking dead show?

The whole opening shot was an explanation of how herds form.

Opens with the zombies following the heli, continues with a herd down a road, into the woods, then the gunshot getting their attention. How many dots do they need to make it any more obvious?

This is commitment, Rico the Zombie.

Wasn't there another herd going the other way on that same highway, early in the season? What were they following, I wonder? What happened when the two herds collided?
Again. From the comics, herds form when a group of zombies react to a sound or whatever may catch their attention. They then begin to move towards that, while moving they pick up stray zombies who instinctually want to see what the big deal is and so on and so forth. Long after what initially got their attention has passed they will continue in that direction until something more immediate captures their attention. Hence the gunshot from Carl to Shane's zombie head.

"Hey, has anyone seen Carl?"
"Nope. I swear, that boy would lose his spleen to a Zombie it it weren't connected..."

(Audience Laughter)

(Carl walks in)

"Hey everyone..."
"Carl, where have you been?"
"Out in the back forty teaching zombies to do the Macarena. Zombie Joe isn't very good at it, but he did have an arm chewed off."

(Audience laughter)

"Carl, that's dangerous...you could be eaten, shot...or worse, you could lose your hat."

(Audience laughter)

"Hey, you know me...that's how I roll..."

(Audience whoops and cheers at the tag line)

^Great Post guys. Really, I love them.

I love how fatty Kirkman totally destroyed his own reason for no zombies being on the farm...

Question...

Why doesn't the military use hand guns and shot guns instead of Machine guns for cover fire... ?

Finally...

The farm was a good ways from downtown ATL, and a decent ways from the highway from what we could see. Must've been a really big herd.
The herd gathers more as it moves along. The herd wasn't that big when they left Atlanta.

There was earlier discussion about Lincoln's accent. Although I applaud him for sounding American, he's not using a Georgia accent, is he? To me, it sounds more like some Western accent. Of course, this could be the fault of his dialect coach.

It's a pseudo-Southern accent, probably the best he can do. Definitely not one from rural GA, that's for sure.
