Sony Trinitron convergence by input question

Thread Starter
I have a 36 inch sony Trinitron SD set. When I feed it by rf (remote dish box) there is a break in proper convergence in the upper right hand corner.

When I feed it by RGB, a Sony HD box to the SD set, the picture is perfect, and there are no convergence issues in the upper right. Actually, it's a really amazing SD picture.

Any ideas ? The set is otherwise OK, although I've not "tuned it". When playing a DVD (by s-vhs input) the letter box is not perfectly straight (I"ve used the adjustment in the setup menu.

Convergence parameters are global in the Sony sets. I would guess that the problem is associated with the output of the remote dish box. An RF signal is a relatively poor quality video signal and you may just be seeing some of its shortcomings such as shifting colors.

Have you checked/validated convergence with a crosshatch pattern? Its really the only way to get it right.
