Fantastic week of stuff.

- The immortal Monkey Island 2 adventure is in HD and now at half price (get this game!!!)

- The NBA 2K11 demo is visually a stunner on the PS3, with sharper graphics than last year and silky smooth animation

- Space Invaders Infinity Gene demo, which is intense and surprisingly varied for a retro-styled shooter

- Move demos up the wazoo, with more coming next week.

- FIFA '11 demo, cause I hear some people actually enjoy futbol more than football

- Soviet Strike is one of THE truly great PSOne action classics

Bonus! All of you with an EU sub-account can go to their PSN store and dload the Enslaved demo from Ninja Theory. And if you don't have a sub-account, make one.
Played the demo of the Space Invaders update. Gah! Horrible. It might work on a portable, but on a home console those sound effects are ear piercing, and the "retro" aesthetic looks more cheap than it does retro.

Worms doesnt get enough love. Fantastic multi-player game.

Worms 2 really ups the visuals... though it seems to me they've reduced some of the configuration and settings.

Seriously, I cant seem to get a computer team or 2 added to a local multi player game.
2 humans + 2 computer teams.
Worms got tons of love like 10 years ago. I remember it was hugely popular back then. I think most people have just moved on!

It's still an awesome game though.

So is this demo different than the 360 one where you can only play as the Lakers single player only or is this some hyped up typo?

+1 Joe, downloading now. For those that haven't accessed their EU account in a while (I can't even recall the last time), it will ask you to agree to a terms of service again before signing on to the PSN.

The EU also got a Dymanic Theme of a Fish Tank. I would have loved to had that on the US side today. Fish tank screen savers are so soothing to watch. Their PS+ content seems more varied too.

Aquatopia will only run if you have the EyeToy connected. I don't have one so can't comment other than that I just wasted $2 + tax by taking a chance thinking the dev's wouldn't be that dumb to limit its functionality that way (grrrr). Live and learn.

My Aquarium however lets you:

1. choose the fish in your tanks (you have 6 tanks total, initially about 12 or so fish types)
2. design the aquarium (light colour, background, floor texture, objects)
3. feed the fish
4. play your own music (Bingo! A new music visualizer)
5. take images and video (no idea why anyone would want to since they embed their logo in everything)
6. read some very limited information about the fish (a wasted chance to be honest)

It does not let you control the camera at all. You can focus on a single fish but this leaves the main menu visible which sucks as the view tends to be too far back for the bigger tanks.

What it is good for is a visualizer for the MP3 player. It also can be pleasant to change the fish up and such. If you leave a tank running it will periodically zoom in on some fish which is good.

One thing that totally sucks is that although the game supposedly has around 40 fish in it, most are locked at the start. The manual says that every few days a new fish will be made available plus some others can be had by getting fish to mate. They are expecting a bit much for what is at best a semi-interactive bit of eye-candy. I'd still say it is worth $5 though I do wish they had added at least some rudimentary camera control and ditched trying to make a mini-game out of the fish selection.

On a side note, the wife was playing with this thing for at least an hour today so I'm apparently not the only idiot out there that likes aquarium simulators.

=)

Cheers

It really sounds like they just took Aquatopia and put it on some steroids. It has eye functionality too. You can drag your hand across the water to just make ripples, or you can shake your hand up and down to feed the fish. The fish will jump if you make a rapid movement across the face of the tank.

From checking out Youtube the two are pretty different looking. Aquatopia is super dense (lots of fish in the tank), only has one tank layout and has crazily fast fish (not very realistic). My Aquarium is nowhere near as dense fishwise but they are less frenetic so perhaps slightly more realistic as far as behaviour goes. I think that Aquatopia probably looks better overall due to the closeness of the view but may be less satisfying over the long run since you presumably have less control over the tanks and there are no changes over time.

It does suck that you cannot use Aquatopia without the EyeToy, dumb limitation that drastically reduced who they can sell the thing to.

Cheers

The PS3 uses the PlayStation Eye.

The PS2 uses the EyeToy.

I'd say the biggest issue with Aquatopia was addressed with My Aquarium... the ability to play music.

As in your own custom soundtrack? In the videos I've seen on YouTube, there's only classical music playing in the background (I assumed the default music.)
